St Andrew's College Language Schools runs its Spanish centre in Teatinos, the university district of Málaga on the Costa del Sol. Teenagers study General English at the English Language Institute — bright, modern classrooms a short walk from the residence — and live at the Xior Málaga Teatinos student residence in single en-suite rooms with study areas, a gym and shared outdoor space. Afternoons and evenings belong to the activity programme: half-day trips each week and a full-day excursion that takes the group to the historic centre, the main attractions and the beaches, always supervised. Metro and bus lines put the city centre within easy reach, and longer trips travel by private coach.

About

About the Course

Fifteen hours of General English a week at the English Language Institute in Teatinos. Each lesson lasts an hour and a half with breaks in between, and classes hold no more than eighteen students, grouped by level. The school tests grammar and listening online before arrival and checks speaking and writing on the first day at the centre; levels run from A1+ and A2 through B1 and B2 to C1 and C1+. Lessons are taught by qualified English language teachers and the course ends with a General English certificate.

What’s Included

A residential summer course for teenagers: General English lessons, a supervised activity programme in the afternoons and evenings, excursions, and a room at the Xior Teatinos student residence. The course runs in fortnightly turns with Saturday arrivals, and a single week can be booked as well.

Accommodation

Students live at Xior Teatinos Málaga, a modern student residence on Bulevar Louis Pasteur in the Teatinos university district. Rooms are single en-suite and hotel-style, each with a kitchenette, a small fridge, a microwave and a sink. The residence has a common room with a cinema room, a study room seating around thirty, a rooftop terrace, grass outdoor areas, vending machines, a safe box, Wi-Fi, laundry for a fee, reception around the clock and security on the entrance. Bed linen is cleaned; towels are not provided. There is no swimming pool and no indoor sports hall.

Meal Plan

Full board. Breakfast is served at eight, lunch at one and dinner at nine; on excursion days the group takes a packed lunch instead of sitting down to lunch at the centre. Rooms at the residence also have a kitchenette with a small fridge, a microwave and a sink.

Activities & Excursions

Afternoons run from half past two until seven, evenings from ten until half past eleven, and the programme is set out day by day before the course starts. Half-day trips over a fortnight take in a Málaga city walking tour, the historic and cultural tours, the Picasso trail, the port and Málaga Park, beach days at Playa de la Malagueta and Playa de Huelin, and the old towns and beaches of Marbella and Benalmádena. Two full days go to the Cueva de Nerja with the Balcony of Europe and to Granada for the Alhambra Palace, with entries covered. Evenings bring a welcome disco, a football tournament, karaoke, a trashion show, TikTok challenges, volleyball, badminton, basketball, a talent show, a staff-versus-students tournament, yearbook making and a leaving disco. The upgraded programmes swap in a waterpark day, a flamenco show, Ronda with the Caminito del Rey and a catamaran tour. Activities may change with the weather.

Facilities

Lessons are held at the English Language Institute, a short walk from the residence: modern, bright classrooms with plenty of natural light and digital teaching resources, a reception area and outdoor seating. The residence adds a canteen, a study room, a common room with a cinema room, a rooftop terrace and grass outdoor areas. Wi-Fi covers both buildings.

Camp Experience

Teatinos is a lively university and residential quarter: cafés within a few minutes’ walk, a convenience store a minute away, cash machines on the same street, and a bus and metro stop three minutes on foot. The historic centre and the beaches lie three to four miles off — twelve to eighteen minutes by private coach, a little over twenty by public bus — and students go there with staff. The centre keeps staff on site around the clock: a centre manager, an activity manager, an excursion manager and a welfare coordinator, all in uniform with name tags, and students wear a lanyard with an emergency number.

Two per fortnight: the Cueva de Nerja with the Balcony of Europe, and Granada for the Alhambra Palace. Entry to both is covered by the course.

Lessons, accommodation and board are the same in all three. Gold swaps the Torremolinos half-day for a day at the Aqualand waterpark, the Málaga cultural tour for a flamenco show, and the second-week optional day for Ronda with the Caminito del Rey. Platinum adds a catamaran boat tour in place of the Playa de Huelin beach day. Both are listed as upgrades on this page.

The course is sold in fortnightly turns with Saturday arrivals, and a single week can be booked instead.

Not at the residence — there is no pool and no indoor sports hall. There are grass outdoor areas on site, and the upgraded programmes include a day at a waterpark.

Staff are on site around the clock: a centre manager, an activity manager, an excursion manager and a welfare coordinator. All staff wear a uniform and a lanyard with a name tag, and students wear a lanyard carrying an emergency number. Trips away from the centre are supervised.

Yes. First-aid-trained staff are on site, and every member of staff signs a declaration form, obtains a disclosure and supplies two references.

More about this camp

Málaga is the southern Spanish city that gives this course its character: sunny beaches, a historic centre and a safe, walkable university quarter. The centre sits in Teatinos, three to four miles from the old town, with a bus and metro stop three minutes from the door. The academic side is the school's standard General English programme — fifteen hours a week, lessons of an hour and a half, a maximum of eighteen students per class and six levels from A1+ to C1+. Students take a grammar and listening test online before they arrive and a speaking and writing test on their first day, so classes are grouped properly from the start. Teachers are qualified English language teachers, and students leave with a General English certificate. Outside the classroom the week is built around half-day trips and a full-day excursion, with entries to the Alhambra Palace in Granada and the Cueva de Nerja covered on the full days. Evenings run from eight to ten: quiz nights, karaoke, film nights, indoor games, talent contests and discos on the residence rooftop. Staff live on site — a centre manager, an activity manager, an excursion manager and a welfare coordinator — and students are supervised whenever they leave the campus. Accommodation is a modern, hotel-style student residence: single en-suite rooms with a kitchenette, a study room, a common room with a cinema room, a rooftop terrace and grass outdoor areas. Reception is staffed around the clock and the entrance is monitored. Towels are not provided, and there is no pool or indoor sports hall on site. The course is sold in fortnightly turns with Saturday arrivals, and a single week can be booked instead. Students may choose to study Spanish rather than English at this centre.
