A residential ski camp in the Italian Alps for young skiers and snowboarders aged twelve to seventeen. The group is based in Sestriere, in the centre of the resort at the foot of the pistes, and rides the Vialattea (Milky Way) area that links the Italian slopes with Montgenevre on the French side. The lift pass covers six days in Sestriere and across Vialattea plus two days at Montgenevre. Mornings are skied in groups by ability and afternoons in groups by affinity, and lunch is a picnic taken on the mountain so the group can range across the whole area. Participants choose skis or snowboard before departure. Through the stay they film themselves and put together a Snow Motion clip with equipment supplied by the operator, and each night ends with the evening entertainment that gives a French colo its character. The camp is not suitable for beginners, and the younger and older age groups are kept apart for daily life wherever possible.

About

About the Course

Skiing and snowboarding on the Vialattea (Milky Way) area, which links Sestriere with the neighbouring Italian resorts and, across the border, with Montgenevre in France. The lift pass covers six days on the Italian side and two days at Montgenevre. Riders are placed in ability groups in the morning and in groups by affinity in the afternoon, and the day is built around covering ground: the group sets off with a picnic and skis the wider area instead of staying on the home slope. Skis or snowboard are chosen before departure. The operator states plainly that this programme is not designed for beginners.

What’s Included

The school offers a special discount - ask us for details. The published price covers accommodation in the resort, full board, the lift pass described above, supervision by a qualified team and the group journey from the standard departure city. Families travelling from another French city pay the supplement published for that city; every one of them is listed under extras. Choosing a snowboard instead of skis carries its own published supplement. Equipment hire is not listed among the published inclusions.

Accommodation

The group stays in a large hotel in the centre of Sestriere, at the foot of the pistes. Rooms hold from two to six beds and have their own bathroom. The stay is full board. The younger and the older age band are kept apart in daily life wherever the operator can arrange it.

Meal Plan

Full board, described by the operator as balanced and served in generous quantity. Lunch is a picnic carried up the mountain so that the group can ski the wider area without coming back to the hotel in the middle of the day.

Activities & Excursions

Skiing or snowboarding every day on the Vialattea area, with two of the days spent across the border at Montgenevre. Through the stay participants film each other and put together a Snow Motion clip, with the filming equipment supplied by the operator. Evenings belong to the veillees - the evening entertainment run by the team, which the operator counts as part of what makes a ski colo.

Facilities

The camp is based in the centre of the resort at the foot of the slopes, so the group reaches the lifts and moves around Sestriere on foot. Accommodation, meals and the evening programme all happen in the same hotel.

Camp Experience

A deliberately small camp: the operator runs it with a minimum of twelve and a maximum of twenty-four participants, one adult for every eight young people, under a qualified director and animators. Ability groups in the morning let confident riders progress at their own pace, while the two age bands keep their own daily routine where possible. Two countries' slopes in one stay, and a film of it to bring home.

25 Lessons · 12–17 yrs · A1–C2

Price from

Supervised skiing and snowboarding on the Vialattea (Milky Way) area, one of the largest linked ski domains in the world. The lift pass covers six days in Sestriere and across Vialattea and two days at Montgenevre, on the French side of the border. Participants ski in groups formed by ability in the morning and by affinity in the afternoon, and take a picnic lunch on the mountain so the group can cover the whole area. Skis or snowboard are chosen before departure; the programme is not designed for beginners.

The operator publishes no lesson timetable for this programme: young people ride with their supervising team in ability groups rather than in a ski school course.

More about this camp

This is a ski camp for young people who can already ski or ride and want a bigger mountain than the one they learned on. The base is Sestriere, in the centre of the resort at the foot of the slopes, and the lift pass opens the whole Vialattea area, with two of the days spent at Montgenevre on the French side of the border. The operator is explicit that the programme does not suit beginners. Days follow the snow rather than a timetable. Riders are grouped by ability in the morning and by affinity in the afternoon; lunch is a picnic on the mountain, which is what makes it possible to cross the domain instead of circling one lift. Skis or snowboard are settled before departure. Running through the stay is the Snow Motion project - the group films itself all week and edits a clip, with the camera equipment provided - and every evening ends with the veillee, the evening entertainment that gives a French colo its shape. The camp is small by design: twelve participants at the minimum, twenty-four at the most, one adult for every eight young people, and a qualified director with animators. The two age bands, younger and older, keep their own daily routine where the team can arrange it. Accommodation is a large hotel in the resort centre, rooms of two to six beds with their own bathroom, and the stay is full board with the midday picnic on the slopes. Group travel is included from the standard departure city, and departures from a long list of other French cities are available for a published supplement, each one listed under extras on this page. Prices, supplements and the operator's own conditions should always be confirmed with the camp before booking.
