Zigotours Dubrovnik and Montenegro Camp: Kotor Bay and Budva

The stay runs from the Adriatic shore to the mountains of Montenegro. In Dubrovnik - the Pearl of the Adriatic - the group covers the landmarks of the old town and the national historical museum, and the streets become the board for a city game of riddles that also brings the group into contact with the people who live there. A boat day explores the Dalmatian archipelago off Dubrovnik: Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan. In Montenegro the Bay of Kotor, a true fjord in the Adriatic, is discovered by kayak, and four hundred and sixty-one steps lead to the top of the citadel for the widest view of it. The last stretch is Budva, the seaside resort, with a stop to look at the fortified village on the Sveti Stefan peninsula from the outside and a coasteering session to take in the coast the fun way.

The price published by the operator covers accommodation, meals, the activities and excursions of the published programme, and insurance. Zigo Tours takes out cover for every participant - assistance and repatriation, individual accident, third-party liability, legal costs and baggage - and advances medical expenses during the stay. Travel is by scheduled flight with a stopover, out of Paris to Dubrovnik and back. Pre-travel from regional cities can be arranged by the operator's transport department; it is quoted case by case and is not part of the published price.

The group sleeps in youth hostels: in Kotor inside the old town, and in Dubrovnik on the Babin Kuk peninsula, ten minutes from the old town. Rooms take two to four people. Showers and toilets are shared and sit on the landing.

Meals are split between small local restaurants and food the group prepares itself, run as a co-managed stay in which the young people share the cooking and the chores.

Kayaking in the Bay of Kotor and coasteering on the Budva coast are the two water activities of the programme. Alongside them there is a boat excursion to the islands off Dubrovnik, the city game through the old town, the climb of the citadel steps above Kotor, and visits to the historical museum and the walled cities themselves.

The hostels provide shared shower and toilet blocks on the landing and rooms for two to four. Travel on the ground is by local and private transport meeting the safety standards of the country.

A group of twelve to twenty-four participants with a qualified director and activity leaders, one adult for every eight young people. Participants who have been on this stay describe an organised, well-filled week, a team that listened to the group when the days were planned, and eating well in the restaurants along the way.
