An adventure camp for 7- to 17-year-olds at Polsa di Brentonico, high in the Monte Baldo Nature Park, run by the Italian operator Holiday System. Children learn to read a map and a compass, build an emergency shelter, tie knots, pitch a tent, light a fire and cook trapper-style, and the week ends with a night under canvas. Around that run tennis, horse riding, archery, golf, football, volleyball, climbing on an artificial wall and the Crazy Jump, with dance, guitar and aerial silks in the creative sessions. Children live at the Hotel Polsa, kept for camp guests only, with educators on duty day and night and a doctor on site around the clock.

About

About the Course

Orienteering and survival are the backbone of the camp: compass work and map reading, treasure hunts across the mountain, building an emergency shelter, knots, pitching a tent, lighting a fire and trapper-style cooking. Each session closes with a night in a tent.

What’s Included

The stay is sold by the week or the fortnight, full board included. An optional insurance cover is offered, a discount to returning participants and to siblings.

Accommodation

Children sleep at the Hotel Polsa, a three-star mountain hotel the camp keeps for its own guests; the Hotel Bellavista and Hotel Dolomiti are used the same way. Rooms have been renovated and have private bathrooms with a shower.

Meal Plan

Full board at the hotel, with two choices at each main meal planned against age-based dietary tables.

Activities & Excursions

Sport fills the rest of the day: tennis, horse riding, archery, golf, football, volleyball, climbing on an artificial wall and the Crazy Jump, with dance, guitar and aerial silks in the creative sessions. Excursions include the Sentiero della Pace, a half-day mountain walk past First World War forts cut into the rock, and the tree-top course at the Parco Avventura di Polsa, included on fortnightly sessions. Gardaland and the Cavour water park are optional, in groups of about ten with an educator.

Facilities

The camp sits in the Monte Baldo Nature Park above Brentonico. The hotels are reserved for camp guests; there are tennis courts, an artificial climbing wall and an archery range, and the hotel pool is opened at set times under supervision when it rains.

Camp Experience

The day runs from an 8:00 wake-up to lights out at 22:00: activities, breaks, meals, a siesta and evening entertainment, with times varying by age group. An assistant is awake overnight and keeps a phone line open to parents if needed, and a doctor sleeps in the building.

Holiday System

Holiday System is an Italian camp operator based in Mori, in Trentino, running residential summer camps for children and teenagers in the mountains of Trentino-Alto Adige. Its camps take over whole hotels for the season — Hotel Polsa at Polsa di Brentonico, at 1,244 m in the Monte Baldo Nature Park, and the Villa Waiz and Villa Flora hotels in the park at Roncegno Terme — so the children live, eat and take their activities in the same place. The programmes range from outdoor survival and bushcraft to tennis and multi-sport, and to an English camp with native-speaker teachers. Each session has educators day and night and a doctor on site around the clock.
