Glisses a Valmorel: ski and snowboard camp for teenagers

Five supervised ski or snowboard sessions with instructors of the French national ski school (ESF), in groups formed by level, on the slopes of Saint-Francois Longchamp and Valmorel. Beginners and confident riders each join a group at their own level, and the stay ends with a level test and a star. Outside the sessions the camp leaders stay on the pistes with the group. Ski or snowboard equipment and a helmet are provided.

The stay covers full board at the chalet, accommodation, the ESF ski or snowboard sessions, equipment and helmet, the rail sledging outing, the snow activities and evening programme, and the visit to the resort village. Travel from a departure city is an option priced separately by the operator; teenagers can also be brought directly to the centre.

Chalet l Edelweiss stands at 1 450 m, two hundred metres from the first ski lifts. Rooms sleep two to six and have their own bathroom. Activity rooms and a dining room looking onto the snow-covered mountains complete the building, and a south-facing terrace opens onto the mountain setting.

Meals are prepared on site by the centre cook, with regional dishes on the menu, and are served in the dining room with its panoramic view of the Etendard glacier.

Away from the lessons the week holds rail sledging down a mountain course, where each rider controls their own speed, snow games around the centre, a walk through the resort and village, and a torchlight descent by the ESF instructors after dark. Evenings run on big team games, blind tests, themed nights, improvisation and a party.

The centre has three classrooms, a multi-purpose room with a bar and dance floor, a screening room, a meeting room and a dining room with a panoramic view. Table football, table tennis, board games, a video projector and Wi-Fi are available in the shared areas, and a south-facing terrace runs along the outside. A city stade is two minutes away.

A winter week for teenagers in a Savoie ski resort, in a chalet at the foot of the pistes, built around riding with an ESF group at your own level and an evening programme that does not repeat itself. The group is about twenty-four, with one adult for every eight participants.
