About

About the Course

A multi-activity autumn programme in the Montagnes du Jura, run by the Aroéven network for children aged 6 to 14. The stay is built so that the children become genuine participants rather than spectators: the programme follows one strong story-line, with big games in open nature, challenges to overcome together and a themed evening gathering every night. Parcours and games are adapted to the age and the wishes of the group, and the whole stay is led by a director and qualified animators.

What’s Included

The price quoted per child covers the stay at the chalet and the activity programme. Travel insurance is charged separately and is not part of the quoted figure. The journey is organised by train or minibus; families can choose to join the group at the venue in Chaux-des-Crotenay or to depart from Besançon, and the departure chosen changes the price. Compulsory paperwork is published by the operator: an image-rights form, the participant's charter and a health record.

Accommodation

The group is housed in a chalet, Les Cyclamens / Carmia, in Chaux-des-Crotenay in the Jura, with the children sleeping in rooms. Life in the chalet is shared: participants and staff together take on the everyday tasks of the house, from preparing meals to cleaning and laundry, which is a deliberate part of the educational project rather than a saving.

Meal Plan

Meals are prepared and eaten in the chalet by the group itself. The children take part in the cooking alongside the animators, as one of the shared daily tasks of the stay. The operator does not publish a separate board arrangement for this stay.

Activities & Excursions

Days are filled and dynamic: hikes in the Jura mountains, multi-sport sessions, visits to waterfalls and other unusual places nearby, and large outdoor games played in the open and in the forest. Every evening closes with a gathering built around the theme of the stay. The sports ground at the chalet is used for basketball, table tennis, volleyball, football and pétanque. Each moment is designed to build team spirit and the children's own independence.

Facilities

The chalet has its own multi-sport ground, used for basketball, table tennis, volleyball, football and pétanque. Around it are the forests, waterfalls and mountains of the Jura, which the programme uses as its main setting.

Camp Experience

Chaux-des-Crotenay sits in the heart of the Jura mountains, between forest, waterfalls and summits. The stay is meant to be remembered for what the children did rather than what they watched: surmounting challenges, discovering a landscape that few of them know, and coming home with stories full of laughter and surprises. For many children this is a first experience of living as a group and running a house together.

The Fédération des Aroéven is a French non-profit education federation — Fédération des Œuvres Éducatives et de Vacances de l'Éducation Nationale — recognised as an organisation of public utility. It works as a complementary educational association of the French state school system, as a youth and popular-education federation, and as a movement for pedagogical research and practice. Through its regional Aroéven associations it runs residential holiday stays for children and teenagers in France and abroad, in the mountains, in the countryside and in European cities, alongside BAFA and BAFD youth-leader training and school trips. Each stay is organised by one of the regional associations, while booking and payment for all of them are handled centrally by the federation on its own site. Groups are led by qualified animateurs and the educational project is published by the federation.
