What’s Included
An eight-day residential stay for teenagers aged 13 to 17, run by CESL. Travel is by train and then coach. The camp takes 50 young people with one group leader for every seven participants.
Accommodation
A holiday centre described by the organiser as very comfortable, with bedrooms of two to six people, each with its own shower and toilet. The centre has three dining rooms and three activity rooms, and equipment is stored on site. It stands ten minutes from the pistes, and the camp runs its own shuttle that drops groups as close to the slopes as possible.
Meal Plan
Meals are prepared on site by CESL's own cooks, and the organiser describes its menus as balanced, generous and varied. The Val Cenis centre has three dining rooms, and at midday the skiers meet over a meal or a picnic. Allergies and medically required diets are catered for if the organiser is told in advance; halal or kosher meals are not prepared.
Activities & Excursions
Skiing or snowboarding over six days; two hours of daily ESF tuition; town walks and outings; snow games and sledging; and an organised evening activity every day.
Facilities
Three dining rooms, three activity rooms and an on-site equipment store. Bedrooms have private shower and toilet facilities. The centre operates its own shuttle to the slopes.
Camp Experience
The camp is built around the group sharing the day: friends meet at lunch over a meal or a picnic, or at the end of the afternoon, to talk about their day on the snow. Val Cenis sits at 1,400 metres and is the main ski village of the Haute Maurienne, facing the Vanoise National Park, linking the three villages of Lanslevillard, Lanslebourg and Termignon.
