About

About the Course

A nature stay in the Sologne for children aged 6 to 12, run by the Aroéven network. The programme is built around an introduction to pony riding and walks in the surrounding countryside, with craft workshops, cooking sessions, large outdoor games and a themed evening gathering each night. Days are paced around moments of sharing and discovery rather than a fixed timetable.

What’s Included

The price quoted per child covers the stay at the gîte and the activity programme. Travel insurance is charged separately and is not part of the quoted figure. Travel is arranged by minibus or train depending on the departure town; families may also drive their child directly to the accommodation. Departures are offered from Paris and from towns of the Centre-Val de Loire region — Orléans, Blois, Chartres, Châteauroux, Tours and Bourges — and the departure chosen changes the price. For any other departure town the operator asks to be contacted.

Accommodation

The group stays in a gîte in a natural setting, immediately beside the château of La Ferté Saint-Aubin. Children sleep in comfortable rooms of two to four beds, each room with its own bathroom.

Meal Plan

The children draw up the menus themselves, and the meals are prepared and shared together with the group in a friendly atmosphere. Cooking workshops are part of the activity programme. The operator does not publish a separate board arrangement for this stay.

Activities & Excursions

Walks and visits to discover the surroundings, an introduction to pony riding and pony outings, cooking workshops, craft activities, outdoor games, large games and themed evening gatherings. The autumn setting of the Sologne — golden leaves, curious animals and well-hidden secrets — is used as the theme that ties the programme together.

Facilities

The gîte stands next to the château of La Ferté Saint-Aubin and its estate, in open Sologne countryside. Bedrooms have their own sanitary facilities. The operator does not publish a further list of on-site facilities for this stay.

Camp Experience

The Sologne in autumn is the whole point of this stay: a dépaysant landscape close to Orléans where children discover a region on foot and on pony-back. For many of them it is a first stay away from home, and the stay is deliberately built so that they come back having made something — a menu, a meal, a ride — rather than only having been taken somewhere.

Fédération des Aroéven

The Fédération des Aroéven is a French non-profit education federation — Fédération des Œuvres Éducatives et de Vacances de l'Éducation Nationale — recognised as an organisation of public utility. It works as a complementary educational association of the French state school system, as a youth and popular-education federation, and as a movement for pedagogical research and practice. Through its regional Aroéven associations it runs residential holiday stays for children and teenagers in France and abroad, in the mountains, in the countryside and in European cities, alongside BAFA and BAFD youth-leader training and school trips. Each stay is organised by one of the regional associations, while booking and payment for all of them are handled centrally by the federation on its own site. Groups are led by qualified animateurs and the educational project is published by the federation.
