About
About the Course
A short guided city break in Paris for teenagers. The sightseeing programme is fixed and included: a half-day coach tour of the city, an evening illumination cruise on the Seine, the basilica of Sacre-Coeur with entry to the tower and crypt together with the artists quarter of Montmartre, and a trip out to the park and palace of Versailles. All transfers within the sightseeing programme are covered. Participants who prefer the theme park can swap Versailles for a day at Disneyland Paris, with transfer and entry, against an extra charge.
What’s Included
The package covers three nights at the hotel, a breakfast buffet each morning, return travel by modern coach with one overnight leg on the way home, the full sightseeing programme listed above, all transfers within that programme, an experienced tour-leader team and insolvency insurance. Travel to the departure point and back is not part of the package; self-arranged arrival at the hotel is possible as an alternative to the coach. The operator states that this trip is not suitable for participants with reduced mobility.
Accommodation
Accommodation is the ibis hotel at Porte de Montmartre, on the boundary between the Montmartre artists quarter and the Saint-Ouen district, close to small cafes, shops and the Marche aux Puces flea market. Rooms are three-bed rooms with shower and WC and a television; twin rooms are available against a surcharge. The hotel has a twenty-four hour reception, a lift, a large lobby to sit and wait in, and drink and snack machines. Breakfast is served in the hotel breakfast room.
Meal Plan
A breakfast buffet at the hotel is included each morning; other meals are not part of the package and are bought during the day. The operator asks for special dietary requirements at the time of booking and states that vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, sorbitol-free and pork-free catering can be arranged. The operator also states that this trip is not suitable for participants with a peanut allergy or on a protein-free diet.
Activities & Excursions
The programme is built around the city itself: the half-day sightseeing tour, the Seine illumination cruise, Sacre-Coeur and Montmartre, and Versailles. Free time is part of the design, with participants exploring the quarter around the hotel, its cafes, bakeries and markets, in their own small groups. Excursions and extras that are not already included can be booked locally; the operator publishes the list of them about four weeks before departure.
Facilities
The hotel provides the base for the trip: a breakfast room, a lobby large enough to gather and wait in, a lift, a reception staffed around the clock, and vending machines for drinks and snacks. Sightseeing transfers run from the hotel as part of the programme.
Camp Experience
This is a youth trip rather than a supervised childrens camp. The tour-leader team keeps to the background and is there for advice and help, with a supervision ratio of about one adult to twenty participants, so teenagers move around the city largely with their own group of friends. The first evening starts with an orientation walk around the neighbourhood to find food shops, supermarkets and bakeries, and the days that follow mix the fixed programme with time of your own.
