Liberty Programme – Host Family

We'll let you know when this camp adds new dates.

Clubclass Liberty Programme is a summer English course for teenagers held on the school's own campus in Swieqi, a quiet residential area a few minutes' walk from the seaside village of St Julian's in Malta. Students take twenty English lessons a week, taught in classes of no more than fifteen, and follow a structured leisure programme of half-day and full-day trips around the island. Accommodation is offered either in the school's Garden View Complex or with a local host family, both with breakfast and dinner included. Airport transfers on arrival and departure, use of the outdoor campus pool and fitness centre, and round-the-clock customer care are part of the package.

About

About the Course

The Liberty Programme is built around twenty English lessons a week, which comes to fifteen hours of tuition. Lessons last forty-five minutes each and classes are capped at fifteen students, so teenagers get regular speaking time rather than sitting at the back of a large group. Every student takes a placement test before classes begin, and the course covers reading, writing, listening and speaking alongside grammar, vocabulary and functional language. Lessons may be timetabled in the morning or in the afternoon. Students finish with a Clubclass end of course certificate and an Oxford Quality Centre certificate.

What’s Included

The programme is sold as a single weekly package covering tuition, accommodation with breakfast and dinner, and the leisure programme. Airport transfers on arrival and departure are included, as is a course book with materials, access to Oxford Practice Online e-learning, a student discount card, a student bag and a local SIM card. Students also have use of the outdoor campus pool and the fitness centre, with customer care available around the clock. Insurance and exam fees are not part of the package.

Accommodation

Two options are offered at different weekly rates. The Garden View Complex sits on the Clubclass campus itself, with shared air-conditioned bedrooms with a private shower for a maximum of three students. The alternative is a local host family, again with a shared bedroom for up to three students. Both options include breakfast and dinner. The school notes that it may place students in alternative premises of a similar or better standard.

Meal Plan

Half board is included with both accommodation options: breakfast and dinner are provided every day, whether the student stays on campus or with a host family. Lunch is not part of the package, and the campus has its own restaurant on site.

Activities & Excursions

The leisure programme runs alongside lessons with three half-day trips every week, plus one full-day trip for students staying two weeks or longer. Trips have included Mdina, Valletta, the Three Cities, Marsaxlokk and the Blue Grotto, half-day and full-day beach trips, and an island tour of Malta. Transport to and from the school is provided where it is needed, and students can also use the campus pool and fitness centre between activities.

Facilities

The school and its accommodation block share a single building in Swieqi. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre with a sauna, a campus restaurant, a games lounge, air-conditioned classrooms, free Wi-Fi throughout, a twenty-four-hour internet cafe, a self-study centre with a library and a multipurpose room.

Camp Experience

Swieqi is a quiet residential area about four minutes on foot from the seaside village of St Julian's, which puts the beach, cafes and the promenade within easy reach while lessons stay in a calm setting. Clubclass has been teaching in Malta since the late nineteen-nineties and draws a mixed international student body, so teenagers practise English with peers from a range of countries rather than defaulting to their own language. Staff are multilingual and customer care is available at any hour.

More about this camp

The Clubclass Liberty Programme is a residential summer English camp for teenagers, held on the school’s own campus in Swieqi, Malta. Swieqi is a quiet residential district roughly four minutes on foot from St Julian’s, which means lessons and accommodation sit in a calm setting while the seafront, cafes and beaches stay within easy walking distance. The school and its accommodation block occupy a single building, so students move between classrooms, the pool and their rooms without leaving the campus. Tuition runs to twenty lessons a week, which works out at fifteen hours. Each lesson lasts forty-five minutes and classes are capped at fifteen students. Every student sits a placement test before the course begins, so groups are formed by level rather than by age or nationality alone. Teaching covers reading, writing, listening and speaking together with grammar, vocabulary and functional language, and lessons may be timetabled either in the morning or in the afternoon. No minimum level of English is published for this programme. Students receive a course book and materials, access to Oxford Practice Online e-learning, a Clubclass end of course certificate and an Oxford Quality Centre certificate. There are two accommodation options, each priced separately per week. The Garden View Complex is the school’s own residence on the campus, with shared air-conditioned bedrooms with a private shower for a maximum of three students. The alternative is a local host family, again with a shared bedroom for up to three students. Breakfast and dinner are included with both, and the campus has its own restaurant. The school states that it may place students in alternative premises of a similar or better standard. The leisure programme is built into the week rather than sold as an add-on. Students join three half-day trips every week, and those staying two weeks or longer also get a full-day trip. Destinations have included Mdina, Valletta, the Three Cities, Marsaxlokk and the Blue Grotto, half-day and full-day beach trips, and an island tour of Malta. Transport to and from the school is provided where it is needed. Between activities students have use of the outdoor swimming pool and the fitness centre on campus, along with a games lounge, a self-study centre with a library, a twenty-four-hour internet cafe and free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Several items that often appear as extras elsewhere are included here: airport transfers on arrival and on departure, a local SIM card, a student discount card and a student bag. Customer care is available around the clock. Insurance and exam fees are not covered by the programme fee. Clubclass has been teaching English in Malta since the late nineteen-nineties and draws a mixed international student body, so teenagers practise the language with peers from a range of countries throughout the day.
