Intensive English
We'll let you know when this camp adds new dates.
This residential summer language camp is run on the campus of the American International School - Salzburg, in the Austrian Alps. Teenagers take intensive English or German lessons in small groups each weekday morning, and are placed into one of several levels after a short assessment on arrival. Afternoons, evenings and weekends are given over to a full activity and excursion programme: rafting, canyoning, high ropes courses and ziplines, hikes through Alpine gorges, concerts and museums in Salzburg, and day trips to nearby cities. Participants stay in on-campus dormitories in double, triple and quad rooms, each with its own shower and toilet, supervised by resident staff living on every floor. Tuition, meals, boarding, all activities and excursions and local transport are covered by the programme fee.

About
About the Course
Lessons run on weekday mornings in small groups, taught by the school's own teaching faculty. Students choose either English or German and take a short assessment at the start of the session so that they join the right level; three to four levels are offered in each session. Teenagers who complete the full six-week programme can earn high school credit, which also makes the course a useful bridge for families considering the school's academic year programme.
What’s Included
The programme fee covers everything from arrival to departure: language instruction, boarding on campus, all meals, the full activity and excursion programme and local transport. Families are advised to send pocket money only for personal purchases. Sessions run for two weeks each and can be combined into longer stays of up to six weeks, and a sibling discount is offered when more than one child from a family attends.
Accommodation
Students live in the school's dormitories on campus in double, triple and quad rooms, each with its own shower and toilet. Professional resident staff live on every floor and provide supervision, guidance and care outside academic hours; the same resident team organises and leads the trips and activities.
Meal Plan
Full board is provided on campus. The daily timetable includes lunch straight after morning lessons and dinner in the early evening, with the activity programme running between and after meals. Meals are part of the programme fee, so no separate catering payment is required.
Activities & Excursions
Every afternoon, evening and weekend is given over to activities and excursions, all included in the fee. The adventure side of the programme uses the Alpine setting around Salzburg for rafting, canyoning, high ropes courses, ziplines and hikes through gorges such as the Lammerklamm. The cultural side takes in summer festivals, concerts in the Mirabell Gardens, baroque architecture, museums and the climb up to the Salzburg Fortress. Saturdays are cultural day trips and Sundays combine adventure canyoning with free time. Weekend excursions reach destinations within about three hours of Salzburg, including Munich, Vienna, Innsbruck, Werfen and Linz, using Austria's public transport network.
Facilities
The programme is based on the campus of the American International School - Salzburg, on Moosstrasse in the south of the city. Teaching rooms, dining and residential accommodation are all on the same site, so students move between lessons, meals and activities without leaving campus. Salzburg's old town, the surrounding lakes and the Alps are all within reach for the afternoon and weekend programme.
Camp Experience
The camp suits teenagers who want to make real progress in English or German without spending the summer in a classroom. Mornings are structured and academic; the rest of the day is spent outdoors, in the city or with the group. Participants come from a range of countries, group sizes are kept small and resident staff are present throughout, which makes this a manageable first experience of living away from home for many students. Salzburg itself, Mozart's home city and a filming location for The Sound of Music, is part of the appeal.
