About

About the Course

An intensive English course inside a castle. Children take an online placement test before they travel, so they are put in a group at their own level from the first day; complete beginners are welcome. Qualified teachers at native-speaker level work through topics designed to get children talking, and because about two thirds of the group come from outside Germany, English is the language of the whole house, not only the classroom. At the end of the stay each child receives a language certificate referenced to the Common European Framework.

What’s Included

The school offers a special discount — ask us for details. The package covers accommodation in the castle, full board, the operator’s German-speaking and international group leaders, the intensive English course and the excursion package: a full-day trip in the region every week and a visit to the open-air pool. Travel to the castle is arranged by the family.

Accommodation

The Ebernburg stands above Bad Kreuznach with a wide view over the valley. Children sleep in two- to four-bed rooms with their own bath and WC, and WiFi is available. Rooms are arranged separately for girls and boys. Lessons are held in the castle’s own newly renovated rooms, and evenings move outside to the fire pit.

Meal Plan

Full board. A breakfast buffet, a hot lunch and a classic German evening meal with one hot dish. On day-trip days children put together their own packed lunch. Between meals the Fit & Fruit Corner offers fresh fruit and tea.

Activities & Excursions

The holiday programme is built around a magic theme: on arrival day a talking hat sorts each child into a house, and the houses then compete through the stay for a magic cup. After lessons there is sport, craft and small adventures around the castle; evenings bring a campfire with stick bread, a movie night or a quiz night. Table tennis and table football are on site, and every week includes a full-day trip in the region and a visit to the open-air pool.

Facilities

A genuine castle two kilometres from the centre of Bad Kreuznach, with forest and vineyards directly outside the walls. On site: newly renovated classrooms, a sports field, a panoramic viewpoint, a chill-out area, a fire pit, table tennis and table football, and WiFi.

Camp Experience

The group is deliberately small — at most eighty language students in the house in any week, usually fewer — and about a third of them come from Germany, the rest from across Europe and Asia. German-speaking leaders are always on the team, and important information is repeated in German, so a child who is still unsure of their English is not left guessing. Mobile phones are used in one agreed window in the late afternoon, so the programme, the lessons and the night’s sleep are left alone.

More about this camp

The Ebernburg is a real castle above Bad Kreuznach in the Nahe valley, and in the summer it becomes an English language camp for children from the age of ten. The course runs at twenty lessons of forty-five minutes a week in the castle’s own renovated classrooms, taught by qualified teachers at native-speaker level. Children sit an online placement test before they arrive and are grouped by level from A1 to B2, so beginners are welcome; everyone leaves with a certificate referenced to the Common European Framework. At most eighty language students are in the house in any week and roughly two thirds come from outside Germany, which is what turns the course into practice. Accommodation is in two- to four-bed rooms with bath and WC, girls and boys separately, with full board: breakfast buffet, hot lunch, evening meal and a Fit & Fruit Corner through the day. Outside lessons the programme is themed on magic, from the sorting hat on arrival day to the contest for the magic cup, alongside sport, craft, campfire evenings with stick bread, movie and quiz nights, table tennis and table football. A full-day trip in the region and an open-air pool visit are included every week. Families arrange their own travel to the castle.
