About
About the Course
Climbing is taught on natural rock by trained climbing instructors, who also look after the group. Children are introduced to climbing and abseiling, learn knot work, and climb on small, well tested rocks in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains before abseiling like real climbers. The complete climbing and safety equipment is provided; climbing shoes are not included. The programme also holds one adventure day with swimming and action and one adventure day with geocaching.
What’s Included
The package covers seven travel days with six nights, accommodation in multi-bed rooms at the hostel in Rosenthal, full catering with a breakfast buffet, a midday siesta meal and a warm dinner, drinks around the clock, climbing on natural rock including instruction, the complete climbing and safety equipment apart from shoes, round-the-clock supervision by trained climbing instructors and camp leaders, and the two programme days. The operator states the price includes all services with no service or handling fee. Bed linen is brought by the participants. The trip is generally not suitable for people with restricted mobility.
Accommodation
The camp stays at the Rüstzeitheim in Rosenthal, in the middle of the rock landscape of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the Bielatal valley, with around two hundred and sixty climbing rocks in the surrounding area. Children sleep in multi-bed rooms of two to four beds, simply and functionally furnished and looking out on the surrounding nature; showers and toilets are central. The camp leaders sleep immediately next door and are there for the children around the clock. A lawn with a volleyball net and a playground are used for play and rest during the day, and table tennis and other ball sports are available. The grounds are open to the children at any time.
Meal Plan
Catering at the hostel in Rosenthal is full board. The breakfast buffet and the midday siesta meal are ample, and the group prepares its own packed lunch together for the day. A warm dinner waits for the children when they come back from a day of climbing. Drinks are available around the clock. Catering starts on the first day with a midday snack.
Activities & Excursions
Alongside the climbing and abseiling the programme may include a cave tour, geocaching, group field games, swimming, volleyball, football and table tennis, playing on the small playground, hikes through the surrounding nature, group games indoors and outdoors, a campfire at the barbecue area and a night walk through the surrounding forest.
Facilities
The hostel in Rosenthal stands in the Bielatal valley in the middle of the Elbe Sandstone rock landscape. On the grounds there is a lawn with a volleyball net, a small playground, a barbecue area with a campfire place and table tennis, and the open grounds are available to the children at any time. Showers and toilets are central to the building.
Camp Experience
The camp is built around real rock rather than a climbing wall: the Bielatal valley has some two hundred and sixty climbing rocks, and the children climb on the small, tested ones with instructors who stay with them the whole trip. Between the climbing days there is a cave tour, geocaching, swimming and a night walk in the forest.
