An outdoor tent camp for young people aged ten to fifteen at the Campingplatz Blütengrund, where the Unstrut joins the Saale. Campers sleep two to an igloo tent, share a large group tent as a common room and cook their meals together in teams in the kitchen tent or over an open fire pit; all the food is on site or delivered fresh each day, and everyone takes a turn. The week is spent on the water and on the cycle paths of the Saale and Unstrut valleys, with a river raft trip, a canoe tour, a bike round tour and a day out in Naumburg included. The camp has a small lake of its own to sit beside in the evening.

About

About the Course

There are no lessons on this programme. The Aktivcamp is an outdoor week for ten- to fifteen-year-olds run from a tent camp on the Saale, with the days given over to paddling, rafting, cycling and games, and the running of the camp shared between the campers and their counsellors.

What’s Included

The package covers the stay in the tent camp, full catering with all food supplied on site or delivered fresh daily and cooked together in teams, the supervised programme and the included outings: a dinghy trip on the Saale, a canoe tour on the Unstrut, a round tour on the Saale and Unstrut cycle paths, a day in Naumburg for the shops and the cathedral masons' lodge, and a treasure hunt or chaos game with a closing evening round the campfire. Coach travel from the departure points is offered, and travelling independently is also possible.

Accommodation

The camp is pitched at the Campingplatz Blütengrund, an unlandscaped campsite where the Unstrut meets the Saale. Campers sleep two to an igloo tent; a large group tent serves as the common room and a kitchen tent as the kitchen. Modern sanitary facilities are central to the site.

Meal Plan

All meals are prepared on site. Campers cook in small teams in the large kitchen tent or over an open fire pit with a fire bowl and tripod, and everyone takes a turn. All the ingredients are already at the camp or delivered fresh each day.

Activities & Excursions

The rivers set the programme: a dinghy trip down the Saale, a canoe tour on the Unstrut, and a round tour along the cycle paths that follow both valleys. Away from the water there are group and field games, a treasure hunt or chaos game, and a closing evening round the campfire. A day out goes to Naumburg for the shops and the cathedral masons' lodge. Extras not already included, such as archery attack, can be booked on site.

Facilities

An unlandscaped campsite in the Blütengrund, directly on the Saale and next to the cycle and water routes of the Saale and Unstrut. The camp consists of igloo tents for sleeping, a group tent used as the common room and a large kitchen tent, with an open fire pit for cooking and central modern sanitary facilities. There is a small lake on the site to sit beside in the evening.

Camp Experience

This is camping rather than a resort stay: tents, cooking duty in teams and a day shaped by the river and the weather. Trained counsellors are on hand around the clock at a ratio of one to ten, with a fixed key worker for each group, and campers take an active part in running the camp.

An active outdoor week for ten- to fifteen-year-olds based in tents at the Blütengrund campsite on the Saale. There are no lessons: the days are spent paddling, rafting and cycling in the Saale and Unstrut valleys, with camp chores, cooking duty and group games shared between everyone.

There are no lessons. Counsellors run each day from a published example plan of outings and camp activities: a dinghy trip on the Saale, a canoe tour on the Unstrut, a cycle tour along the paths of both river valleys, a day in Naumburg with a hands-on medieval craft programme at the children's cathedral workshop, and group and field games. Campers also share the running of the camp and cook meals in small teams in the kitchen tent or over the fire pit. The plan can change with the weather.

Camping and outdoor sport rather than a resort holiday — campers run the camp with their counsellors, cook in teams and spend the week on the rivers and cycle paths.

More about this camp

The Aktivcamp is pitched in the Blütengrund, the stretch of river meadow where the Unstrut runs into the Saale, on an unlandscaped campsite surrounded by the cycle and water routes of both valleys. Campers sleep two to an igloo tent. A large group tent is the common room, a kitchen tent and an open fire pit with a fire bowl and tripod are the kitchen, and the sanitary block sits centrally on the site. There is a small lake of the camp's own to sit beside once the day is done. The week is built around the rivers. A dinghy trip runs down the Saale, a canoe tour takes in the Unstrut, and a round tour follows the cycle paths along both. A day out goes to Naumburg, for the shops and for the cathedral masons' lodge, and the camp closes with a treasure hunt or chaos game and an evening round the fire. Extras that are not part of the package, archery attack among them, can be booked on site. What separates this from a resort holiday is that the campers run the place. All the food is at the camp or delivered fresh each day, and the cooking is done in small teams — everyone takes a turn. Trained counsellors are present around the clock at a ratio of one to ten, with a fixed key worker for each group. Coach travel from the departure points is offered so that campers meet each other on the way, and travelling independently is also possible.
