More about this camp

Outward Bound Loch Eil offers residential Summer Adventures for young people aged 10 to 17 at the charity’s centre on the shore of Loch Eil near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The centre sits close to Ben Nevis, with loch journeys by canoe, hill walking and expedition nights in genuinely wild Highland terrain. The summer course here is the 7-day Ridge Adventure. The remaining summer 2026 date at Loch Eil is the Ridge Adventure from 1 to 7 August (£865). The Outward Bound Trust is a UK educational charity and one of the country’s longest-established outdoor learning organisations. Courses are fully residential and run in age streams — 10–12, 13–15 and 16–17 — so young people journey with peers of a similar age. Fees cover instruction by qualified Outward Bound instructors, accommodation at the centre, all meals and all activity and safety equipment; courses start at 2pm on arrival day and finish at 1pm on departure day. International participants pay a slightly higher rate, and funding of up to 60–75% is available for eligible families through the charity. The 2027 season is also on sale. Accommodation is in shared rooms at the centre, with expedition nights spent out in the hills as courses build towards a final journey. Days are full and active: instructor-led sessions on water and in the mountains develop practical skills, teamwork and confidence, and evenings are spent together back at the centre. Many young people arrive without knowing anyone and leave with a strong group of friends and a real sense of achievement. Availability, dates and prices may change quickly. Please always confirm details directly with the camp provider before making travel arrangements.
