friLingue Braunwald Ski & Snowboard Camp

The friLingue Braunwald Ski & Snowboard Camp is a residential winter camp for children and teenagers aged 8 to 17, held in Braunwald, a car-free village known as the sunny terrace of the Glarus region of Switzerland. The camp combines structured language tuition with daily snow sports, so that a stay on the mountain also becomes real progress in English, French or German. Each week includes twelve hours of language lessons taught in small groups of around six participants. Classes are communicative and practice-oriented, and all levels are accepted, from complete beginners to proficient speakers. Alongside the lessons, campers receive fifteen hours of ski or snowboard instruction per week from experienced snow sports instructors. The Braunwald ski area is family-friendly and suits first-timers as well as advanced riders, and the lifts are only a couple of minutes on foot from the house, so no time is lost on transfers to the slopes. Campers stay at the Adrenalin Backpacker Hostel, which offers dormitory and multi-bed rooms as standard, three large terraces with views of the Tödi, a bar serving syrup and other non-alcoholic drinks, a foosball table and a pool table. Upgrades to smaller rooms, including double and single rooms with private or shared bathrooms, are available for a weekly supplement. Meals are homemade and served on a full-board basis, and evenings are filled with a supervised group programme of games and activities. Supervision is provided around the clock. The package includes language tuition, snow sports instruction, a ski pass for the Braunwald ski area, full-board accommodation, excursions, evening activities and registration fees, as well as airport transfer from and to Zurich Airport. On arrival day, children can join an accompanied train ride from Zurich main station, and Braunwald itself is reachable from Zurich in just over an hour. Ski and snowboard equipment can be rented for a weekly fee, with a premium option available. Arrival is on Sunday, and departure is on Saturday afternoon or on Sunday for children with a booked return transfer. Sessions start on Sundays through the winter season, which runs from mid-January to early March, with stays from one to five weeks. A certificate of participation is issued at the end of the camp.
