More about this camp

FL Biarritz's Surf Summer Camp is run by Les ateliers FL on the Basque coast of south-west France, for students aged 15 to 17. Programme and activities. The programme pairs French lessons with four surf sessions a week — a real surfing commitment rather than an occasional beach trip, taught on one of Europe's best-known surf coasts. It suits a student who wants both language progress and a sport they can take seriously. Accommodation and what is included. Students stay in homestay accommodation, and the price includes meals and airport transfers. Bundling transfers and meals into the headline price is worth noting — both are frequently charged separately — and it makes the total cost easier to compare. As a homestay programme, students spend time with a French family, which supports the language immersion, but also travel to lessons and activities from the family home. Ages, dates and duration. The camp is for ages 15 to 17 — an older, narrower band than most, consistent with the independence surfing and homestay require. Eight arrival dates are listed from late June, a generous choice. Location and travel. Biarritz is on the Atlantic coast near the Spanish border. Biarritz airport is close, with Bilbao a further option, and the airport transfer is included. Families travelling independently should still confirm the arrangements. Who the programme may suit. This camp may suit older teenagers who want French immersion combined with committed surfing on a famous coast, and families who value transfers and meals being inside the price. It may suit less well younger children — the minimum is 15 — or those who want a campus with continuous on-site supervision, since this is a homestay-based programme.
