We'll let you know when this camp adds new dates.

A one-week residential IT holiday camp for children aged 10 to 14 at the Schwarzhornhaus, a timber group house nearly 700 metres up on the Rechberg in the Swabian Alb. Minecraft building and coding sessions alternate with an outdoor programme built around the Schwarzhorn nature high ropes course, a hike to the open-air pool at Waldstetten, and team and outdoor games. The group cooks for itself in rotating kitchen groups and is supervised around the clock. Participants travel to and from the camp themselves; cars can go only as far as the Tannweiler car park, from where it is a walk of about 750 metres uphill.

About

About the Course

The camp runs Minecraft building and programming programmes for beginners and advanced participants alike. Children develop their own ideas and projects on the computer, guided by the operator's team, and the operator rotates several Minecraft programmes so that the content differs between departures.

What’s Included

The school offers a special discount — ask us for details. The operator states that there are no hidden costs: accommodation, catering and all activities are included in the price. Travel to and from the camp is arranged by the family and is not part of the package. Supervision is provided around the clock. Cancellation is free of charge up to six weeks before the start of the camp.

Accommodation

Participants sleep in multi-bed rooms in the style of a youth hostel, in seven- and eight-bed rooms. The operator notes that the number of children sharing a room can vary depending on bookings. The group stays at the Schwarzhornhaus group house in Waldstetten.

Meal Plan

Catering is included in the price for the whole stay, as part of the operator's all-inclusive package.

Activities & Excursions

Alongside the computer programme the week includes a natural high ropes course with seventeen exercises, outdoor games and team action, climbing and campfire evenings. The operator presents the mix of screen work and outdoor adventure as the point of the week.

Facilities

The Schwarzhornhaus is a group house set in a nature reserve at almost seven hundred metres above sea level, with its own natural high ropes course and plenty of space to play both indoors and outdoors.

Camp Experience

The week combines building and programming with outdoor adventure. The operator describes children developing their own ideas, growing beyond themselves and taking home real moments of achievement.

Four Minecraft programmes are published for this camp: an introduction to mods programming; building complex machines in Minecraft; automating the city of the future with command blocks; and Mods Entity, an introduction to AI. The programme is chosen during booking and the operator notes that not every programme runs in every camp week. Sessions are run for beginners and for more advanced participants.

The IT programme runs in blocks of about one and a half hours. The children are split into two groups that alternate between the IT sessions and the leisure programme, so both groups cover the same content, partly at different times; meals, the evening programme and the main excursion are shared by everyone. In the operator's sample weekly plan each group has about 16 hours of IT sessions over the week, with no session on arrival day and a short final session on the last morning before departure. The operator notes that the plan is an example and may vary.

Building and programming in Minecraft: an introduction to mod programming, building complex machines, automating a city of the future with command blocks, and entity mods as an introduction to artificial intelligence. The aim is for children to develop their own ideas and learn by building, balanced against an outdoor holiday programme.

More about this camp

Computercamps Schwarzhorn / Stauferland is a one-week residential IT camp run by the German operator Forscherfreunde for children aged 10 to 14. Each participant chooses one Minecraft course from those published — an introduction to mod programming, complex machines, a city of the future automated with command blocks, and entity mods with an introduction to artificial intelligence — and works on it in a small group; the operator notes that not every camp week offers all of them. The IT sessions run in the day rooms of the Schwarzhornhaus and are deliberately balanced against time outdoors: climbing in the Schwarzhorn high ropes course, swimming, team games and sports. Footballs, chess, boccia, kubb, cornhole and badminton are provided, and children may bring their own favourite games. Accommodation is in the youth hostel, with no more than eight children to a room; the number sharing varies with the booking. Full board is included, with three meals a day and one hot meal, and supervision runs around the clock. The price covers the IT course, accommodation, full board and the whole leisure programme including excursions; families arrange travel themselves, and the operator notes that cars can only reach the Tannweiler car park.
