Boys. The camp takes about 140 campers each summer, who come from nineteen states.
A four-week first session open to all ages; that first session also sold as two separate two-week halves, the earlier one with limited availability and the later one for boys rising into the second to sixth grades; and a shorter second session of about two and a half weeks, open to all ages.
Boys of all ages are assigned to two morning activity periods, with classes ranging from tennis to mountain biking to archery to kayaking, so that every camper meets the whole breadth of the programme. Campers then sign up themselves for the two afternoon periods, and free-choice days run through the summer. Evenings are usually given to special activities such as fishing, waterskiing, tubing and team-building games.
Swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, waterskiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, fishing and nature excursions, on the camp lake.
Eight land sports, including lacrosse, baseball on two minor-league quality diamonds, soccer, basketball on two floodlit courts, tennis on five clay courts, and archery.
Yes. Outdoor adventure is one of the three main programme areas and includes multiple-night backpacking trips and whitewater kayaking and canoe trips.
Campers can choose to play other camps in more than six sports. The camp treats intercamp competition as a core part of the experience and is careful to keep it in proportion.
It describes its programme as broad and deep positive risk taking within a nurturing and supportive culture. In over a century no camper has arrived confident in every activity area, so every boy has areas where he takes risks and works through failure.
The camp provides need-based financial aid each summer to more than thirty families.
About seven staff in ten either attended the camp as campers themselves or are returning employees.
