Camp Moosilauke

Camp Moosilauke is an overnight camp for boys in Orford, New Hampshire, founded in 1904. The camp sits on more than 100 acres of forest and fields with a secluded mile-long lake in the White Mountains, and keeps over a mile of shorefront for the private use of its campers. It is run by Bill and Sabina McMahon and takes about 140 campers from nineteen states, with roughly seven staff in ten having been campers themselves or returning employees. The programme balances three areas - land sports, waterfront and outdoor adventure - and is built around what the camp calls broad and deep positive risk taking within a supportive culture: every boy will find activity areas where he is a beginner. Facilities include five clay tennis courts, two floodlit basketball courts, two baseball diamonds of minor-league quality, two soccer fields, a lacrosse field, an archery range, a wood shop, an arts and crafts centre and two large recreation halls.
