A one-week starter holiday camp for younger children at the Ferienanlage Marienberg guesthouse in Vallendar, in the Westerwald hills of Rhineland-Palatinate. Designed for a first trip away from home: children sleep in a bed-house in rooms of four to six, eat three freshly cooked meals a day in the camp dining room and are looked after around the clock by trained counsellors at a ratio of one to ten. The week mixes camp life on site with day trips in the surrounding area, among them the Wild- und Freizeitpark Klotten wildlife and adventure park, a climbing park, free entry to the local open-air pool and a history rally at the Ehrenbreitstein fortress above Koblenz. Travel to and from the camp is arranged by the family.

About

About the Course

There are no lessons on this programme. The Beginner Weeks are a supervised holiday week for children aged six to thirteen, built around camp games, creative workshops and sports on site, with guided day trips in the surrounding area. The week is pitched at first-time campers: counsellors work to a ratio of one to ten and each group keeps the same key worker for the whole stay.

What’s Included

The package covers a seven-day stay with six nights at the Ferienanlage Marienberg, full board, the on-site activity programme and the included excursions: the Wild- und Freizeitpark wildlife and adventure park, free entry to the local open-air pool, a session at the climbing park and a history rally at the Ehrenbreitstein fortress above Koblenz. Supervision by trained counsellors is included throughout. Travel to and from the camp is arranged by the family, and the meeting point is confirmed with the travel documents.

Accommodation

Children sleep in a friendly, modern bed-house in rooms of four to six beds, with showers and toilets shared on each floor. Boys and girls are accommodated in the same house in separate rooms. Meals are taken in the camp's own dining room.

Meal Plan

Full board, prepared on site by the camp's own cook and served three times a day in the dining room. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, fructose-free and pork-free meals can be arranged if requested at booking. The camp states that it cannot cater for children with a peanut allergy or on a protein-free diet.

Activities & Excursions

Days mix activities at the camp with trips out. On site there are creative workshops, outdoor games and a campfire evening with bread baked on sticks. Trips during the week include the Wild- und Freizeitpark wildlife and adventure park, where children can feed animals, watch a falconry display and ride the water chute and roller coaster; free entry to the local open-air pool; climbing at the ropes park; and a rally through the Ehrenbreitstein fortress. Further excursions and extras not already included can be booked on site.

Facilities

The Ferienanlage Marienberg is a holiday centre in the Westerwald hills with a bed-house for guests, a shared dining room with its own kitchen and open grounds for games and outdoor activities. Showers and toilets are on each floor of the accommodation.

Camp Experience

This is a first camp away from home for younger children. Counsellors are on hand around the clock at a ratio of one to ten, with a fixed key worker for each group, so a child travelling alone for the first time always has the same person to turn to. The camp notes that the programme is not suitable for children with limited mobility.

More about this camp

The Beginner Weeks at the Ferienanlage Marienberg in Vallendar are built for children who are going away without their parents for the first time. The stay runs for seven days with six nights in a modern bed-house, in rooms of four to six beds with showers and toilets on each floor, and the camp's own cook serves three meals a day in the shared dining room. The week alternates between camp life and trips out into the surrounding Westerwald and the Koblenz area. Children visit the Wild- und Freizeitpark wildlife and adventure park, where more than fifty species can be fed and watched and the braver ones can take on the water chute and the roller coaster; they climb at the ropes park, swim at the local open-air pool at no extra charge, and work their way through a history rally at the Ehrenbreitstein fortress high above the Rhine. Back at the camp there are creative workshops, outdoor games and an evening around the campfire baking bread on sticks. Care is the point of the programme. Trained counsellors are present around the clock at a ratio of one to ten, and every group keeps the same key worker for the whole stay, so a child always knows who to go to. Special diets — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, fructose-free and pork-free — can be arranged when booking; the camp states it cannot cater for a peanut allergy or a protein-free diet, and that the programme is not suitable for children with limited mobility. Families organise their own travel to the camp and receive the meeting point with their travel documents.
