A residential holiday camp run by Jugendtours at the Ferienanlage Am Grenzbach in the Dubener Heide, a short walk from Bad Schmiedeberg in Saxony-Anhalt. It is built for a child first holiday away from the family: children aged six to twelve sleep in a bed house or in bungalows, eat full board cooked on site, and spend the week between the swimming pool, the sports and games grounds, a geocaching treasure hunt, a horse farm visit and a full day at the Belantis amusement park. Groups of eight to ten are looked after around the clock by trained leaders, and the operator attaches a homesickness money-back guarantee to the stay.

About

About the Course

There are no timetabled lessons. The operator puts the plan for the week together with the group on arrival, and keeps fun, action and adventure at the front of it. Some excursions and programmes are described as optional and bookable on the spot; the operator publishes no charge for those.

What’s Included

The price covers six nights in the bed house or in a bungalow, full board, the free-time programme, an excursion to the Woliday adventure pool with its long water slide or, depending on the weather, to the open-air pool at Bad Duben, the day trip and entry to the Belantis amusement park, an excursion to the Dahlenberg reservoir, a large geocaching treasure hunt, a visit to a horse farm with taster riding or a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Dubener Heide, supervision by an experienced tour leader team, a Jugendtours shirt, insolvency insurance and the operator homesickness money-back guarantee. Travel to the camp is the family own: the operator books this stay with arrival by the family car and does not include a coach. The figure shown is the operator lowest for the arrival week. The operator states that this trip is not suitable for participants with limited mobility.

Accommodation

Children sleep either in a friendly bed house, in multi-bed rooms with a shower and toilet on the floor, or in a bungalow served by a central sanitary building. Meals are served three times a day by the camp own cook in a dining room on site, and the old Hexenhaus next to the accommodation holds the games.

Meal Plan

Full board is included. The camp own cook serves three meals a day in the dining room.

Activities & Excursions

The grounds carry football, a swimming pool and the geocaching treasure hunt, and the evenings end at the campfire baking Knuppelkuchen on a stick. Away from the grounds the week includes the Woliday adventure pool with its long slide or the open-air pool at Bad Duben depending on the weather, a full day at the Belantis amusement park, an excursion to the Dahlenberg reservoir, and a horse farm visit with taster riding or a carriage ride through the heath. A camp rally across the grounds runs on the first evening, after the getting-to-know games.

Facilities

The holiday park sits among woods and meadows in the Dubener Heide, a short walk from town. It holds a swimming pool, a football pitch, sports and games grounds, a dining room, the Hexenhaus games house, and accommodation in a bed house and in bungalows with a central sanitary building.

Camp Experience

Children are divided into groups of eight to ten beginners for the whole stay, each with a trained and experienced leader they can turn to around the clock, and a service team on site runs excursions, travel logistics and meals. The operator backs a first trip away from home with a homesickness money-back guarantee.

A supervised holiday week with no timetabled lessons, shaped for children taking their first trip without their parents. The plan for the week is put together with the group, and the operator keeps the groups small and the leaders reachable around the clock.

There are no lessons. Children are placed in groups of eight to ten with a trained counsellor, and the days follow a published example plan: games on the camp grounds, a trip to the Woliday leisure pool or the Bad Düben outdoor pool depending on the weather, a visit to a riding stable with taster riding or a horse-drawn wagon ride, T-shirt tie-dyeing, a day at the Belantis theme park, a walk to the Dahlenberg reservoir for swimming, geocaching in the Dübener Heide, discos and a closing evening with prizes.

A first holiday away from home: games, nature and excursions in small groups, with no language or academic study.

More about this camp

The Ferienanlage Am Grenzbach lies among woods and meadows in the Dubener Heide, a short walk from Bad Schmiedeberg, and Jugendtours runs its Beginner Weeks there for children taking their first trip without their parents. Children sleep in a friendly bed house, in multi-bed rooms with a shower and toilet on the floor, or in a bungalow served by a central sanitary building; the camp own cook serves three meals a day in the dining room. On the grounds there is a swimming pool, a football pitch, sports and games grounds and the old Hexenhaus full of games, and the evenings end at the campfire. The week away from the grounds is already paid for: an adventure pool with a long water slide, or the open-air pool nearby if the weather turns, a full day with entry to the Belantis amusement park, an excursion to the Dahlenberg reservoir, a large geocaching treasure hunt through the heath, and a visit to a horse farm with taster riding or a horse-drawn carriage ride. Groups hold eight to ten children, each with a trained leader reachable around the clock, and the operator adds a homesickness money-back guarantee for a first holiday away. Stays run seven days with six nights, and children arrive in the family own car rather than by coach. The operator states that this trip is not suitable for participants with limited mobility.
