English & Theatre at Winchester Junior Summer Centre is a summer programme for students aged 11–17 that combines English lessons with performing arts workshops. Running for a minimum of one week, the course develops confidence with language both inside and outside the classroom through 15 hours of English lessons and 9 hours of theatre activities per week, complemented by trips, local visits and a varied daytime and evening activity programme. The syllabus is designed specifically for this age group, with topics and language points changing weekly so students can start and finish any week, and classwork links directly to the trips and cultural activities on the programme.

English lessons are enjoyable, fast-paced and focused on building spoken confidence, with a maximum of 18 students per class and Trinity GESE exams available for an additional fee. Theatre workshops develop singing, dancing and acting skills: students warm up voice and body, improve pronunciation and diction, bring texts to life, and explore music, stories and popular characters, performing their work to peers at the end of each week either live or as a recorded performance.

The course focuses on building confidence in spoken English and performance skills through a balanced mix of language lessons and practical theatre workshops.
