Superweeks are now being held at The Elms – a boarding school near Colwall in Herefordshire, set right on the edge of the Malvern Hills. The centre boasts 40 acres of playing fields and woods, its own indoor heated swimming pool, a sports hall large enough for Danish Long Ball, and even a working farm. This Superweek is designed for children aged 8-14 and includes a week of unique activities – such as giant board games, a Silly Olympics, building an escape room, stargazing, and singing around a campfire with marshmallows. The main goal is to provide an adventure‑filled week in a spectacular outdoor setting.

About the Course
This is not an academic course. The programme focuses on fun, games, and adventure rather than formal lessons. Children participate in group activities that encourage creativity, problem‑solving, and teamwork.
What’s Included
The base price includes full board and accommodation, all games and activities, an exciting day trip, accompanied travel from 17 UK travel points, and round‑the‑clock supervision. Optional extras at additional cost: escort to/from an airport, and accommodation for children staying over between holidays.

Activities & Excursions
Activities are unique and change every week. Examples include: turning the centre into Narnia, a paper plane tournament, room‑sized snakes and ladders, learning songs with guitar, helping a Ninja, rucksack adventures, giant board games, a Silly Olympics, building an escape room, stargazing, and singing around a campfire with marshmallows. A day trip is also included. The focus is on fun, creativity, and group bonding.

The Curious Carnival

The Curious Carnival is a themed Superweek held at The Elms, a boarding school near Colwall in Herefordshire, set right on the edge of the Malvern Hills. It is designed for children aged 8-14 who enjoy sunshine, music, mysteries, and adventure. The main goal is to provide a week‑long carnival experience full of twists, ups and downs, and curious challenges – from cracking codes to uncovering mysteries. The unique approach combines the traditional ATE formula of unique games and activities with a playful carnival atmosphere, all in a spectacular outdoor setting.
There are no academic lessons. Instead, children take part in a wide variety of games, challenges, and creative projects that change every week – never the same twice. All activities are led by diligent, well‑trained staff who provide round‑the‑clock care. Children are grouped for activities. The programme runs all day, with a day trip included, and there is a strong emphasis on fun, creativity, teamwork, and solving mysteries together. No textbooks or formal materials are used – the learning is experiential and play‑based.
The course focuses on fun, mystery, teamwork, and creative problem‑solving through a carnival‑themed adventure week.

Active Training and Education (ATE) is a not-for-profit educational charity with nearly 60 years of experience in running residential holiday camps called 'Superweeks' for children aged 8 to 16. ATE focuses on creating fun and empowering spaces for children, fostering social experiences that encourage imagination, creativity, and personal growth.
