About the Course

The programmes offer intensive academic study with a focus on preparing students for university-level work. Class sizes are small to ensure individual attention and active participation. Students are placed into classes according to their English level, which ranges from B1 to C2. The courses are designed to be challenging and to build understanding and confidence in using English in academic and professional contexts.

The curriculum is tailored to specific subject areas, with students choosing from options such as Architecture, AI & Computer Science, Business Management, Creative Writing, Global Finance & Economics, International Relations & Politics, Law, Medicine, and Psychology. Lessons include lectures, seminars, workshops, and group projects, providing students with a taste of university-style learning. Student progress is tracked and assessed throughout the course, with a final report and certificate provided at the end of the programme.

What’s Included

The programme is all-inclusive, with fees covering subject tuition, full boarding, all meals (three meals a day and packed lunch on excursion days), academic materials, activity fees, entrance costs to excursions, insurance, and complimentary airport transfers from London Heathrow and London Gatwick (conditions apply). Flights and visa costs are not included. A key deposit may be required, collected on arrival and returned on departure. Students are recommended to bring pocket money for optional souvenirs, food, and personal shopping.

Accommodation

Students stay in modern, fully supervised residential accommodation with comfortable dormitory-style rooms. Rooms are single or twin occupancy with shared bathrooms, separated by gender on each floor, equipped with a single bed, desk, storage space, and wardrobe. The boarding houses are warm, welcoming spaces that offer personal privacy and a strong sense of community. Bedding and towels are provided, with regular housekeeping services. All students need to bring their own toiletries.

Meal Plan

Full board is provided, with three meals per day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – included in the programme. Breakfast includes fruit, cereal, toast, and a cooked option, while lunch and dinner include multiple choices of main course, dessert, and a salad bar. On excursion days, a packed lunch is provided. The menus reflect the diversity of students, with vegetarian and vegan options available at all meals. The venue can cater for allergies or dietary requirements if notified in advance.

Activities & Excursions

This programme is designed for motivated students with an advanced or native level of English who wish to prepare for university-level study in psychology or related social sciences. Based at the prestigious St. Hilda's College, part of the University of Oxford, the course offers students the opportunity to be taught Psychology at a first-year undergraduate level within a prestigious Oxford University setting. Through workshops, discussions, and research projects, students develop skills in critical thinking, data analysis, and essay writing, providing ideal preparation for university-level psychology or related fields.

The programme offers 23 hours of tuition per week, delivered in small classes with a maximum of 12 students to ensure individual attention and active participation. Teaching is conducted at a first-year undergraduate level, combining theory with practice to help students explore how psychologists analyse emotions, cognition, and social interaction. Students learn through lectures, seminars, small group tutorials, workshops, and research projects, with a focus on developing both subject knowledge and academic communication skills in a university-style learning environment. The curriculum explores core psychological perspectives, from cognitive and biological to behavioural, psychodynamic, and humanist approaches. Key subject areas include Foundations of Psychology (understanding the scope of psychology and its different schools of thought), Core Debates (nature vs nurture, free will vs determinism, and reductionism vs holism), Cognitive & Social Psychology (models of memory, eyewitness testimony, conformity, obedience, and social influence), Development & Attachment (childhood development and attachment theory through classic and contemporary studies), Psychopathology & Treatment (defining mental disorders, clinical perspectives, and therapeutic approaches), and Research Methods & Ethics (how psychologists design studies, collect and analyse data, and address ethical challenges). The course includes guest lectures by renowned scholars, university preparation masterclasses, small group tutorials, and debate society sessions.
