The central location provides abundant opportunities for students to visit attractions and landmarks, with famous sites less than a mile away. The Bucksmore summer programmes at King's College London are designed for students aged 13 to 17 who wish to improve their English language skills or pursue career-focused preparation. The programmes offer a range of options including Intensive English, IELTS Preparation, and Young Professionals courses with subjects including Business & Global Finance, International Relations & Politics, Medicine, Performing Arts, and Visual Art & Graphic Design. About the Course
The programmes offer 25 hours of tuition per week depending on the course, delivered in small classes with class sizes ranging from 12 to 15 students to ensure individual attention and active participation. Teaching follows a communicative and interactive methodology that focuses on collaboration through creative projects and review sessions, using English in real-world contexts. Lessons build all core language skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – with a strong emphasis on communication, fluency, and confidence. Students are placed into classes according to their English level, which ranges from Elementary to Proficiency, with some courses requiring a minimum level of B1 (Intermediate).
The curriculum is designed in-house and uses engaging, modern topics that students can relate to. The programme's collaboration with National Geographic Learning ensures access to high-quality, engaging course materials that bring the world into the classroom. Each lesson provides students with opportunities to reflect on their learning process and develop critical thinking skills while using English. Additional academic qualifications such as the Trinity GESE exam and IELTS testing are available subject to demand and minimum student numbers.
What’s Included
The programme is all-inclusive, with fees covering subject tuition, full boarding, all meals (three meals a day and packed lunch on excursion days), academic materials, activity fees, entrance costs to excursions, insurance, and complimentary airport transfers from London Heathrow and London Gatwick (conditions apply). A London Travelcard is included in the fees. Flights and visa costs are not included. A key deposit may be required, collected on arrival and returned on departure. Students are recommended to bring pocket money for optional souvenirs, food, and personal shopping. All money, passports, and travel documents are kept in the Centre safe for security reasons. For students aged 14+ with a minimum English level of B1, additional academic options such as the Trinity GESE exam, Employability for the 21st Century, and Academic Skills for Higher Education are available subject to demand and minimum student numbers.
Accommodation
Students stay in fully supervised residential accommodation with comfortable single ensuite bedrooms. The accommodation building offers warm, welcoming spaces providing both personal privacy and a strong feeling of community. The single dorm rooms, separated by gender on each floor, are equipped with an ensuite bathroom, a single bed, desk, storage space, and wardrobe. Towels and bedding are provided, with regular housekeeping services. Flats are equipped with communal kitchens. The accommodation is located across Waterloo Bridge, close to iconic London landmarks, with security staff available and electronic key access into the building.
Meal Plan
Full board is provided, with three meals per day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – included in the programme. Breakfast includes fruit, cereal, toast, and a cooked option, while lunch and dinner include multiple choices of main course, dessert, and a salad bar. On excursion days, a packed lunch is provided. The menus reflect the diversity of students, with vegetarian and vegan options available at all meals. The venue can cater for allergies or dietary requirements if notified in advance.
Activities & Excursions
A full and varied activity programme is included, designed to make the most of the London location. Students participate in on-site activities including sports, team challenges, creative workshops, and evening social events such as discos, quiz nights, and talent shows. Excursions to explore London's iconic landmarks are a key part of the programme, with 2 full-day and 1 half-day excursion per week to fun and varied attractions. Destinations include Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, the London Eye, the Southbank Centre, Thorpe Park, Brighton, Windsor, and Cambridge. A London Travelcard is included in the fees, allowing students to explore the city independently.
Facilities
King's College London offers high-quality classrooms with smart boards and projectors, and Wi-Fi throughout. The campus has security staff available and electronic key access into the building. There are also recreation areas and social spaces where students can unwind with fellow students. The central location provides easy access to shops, cafés, and iconic London sights. The venue is in a safe and secure city-centre location, with Gatwick and Heathrow airports approximately 1 hour away.

Based at King's College London in the heart of the capital, the course is taught by West End professionals and combines practical workshops with theoretical study, helping students build creativity, confidence, coordination, and communication skills. Ideal for students interested in theatre, performance, or developing transferable skills for education and beyond.

Teaching is led by West End professionals and follows a practical, hands-on methodology that combines performance techniques with creative exploration. Students learn through a variety of workshops including acting, singing, dancing, stage combat, and puppetry, with a strong focus on developing both performance skills and English language fluency through meaningful, context-rich learning experiences.
