Adventure Camp

We'll let you know when this camp adds new dates.

Residential adventure camps in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, run by Christ College Brecon on its own campus. Campers aged 10 to 16 live in the school boarding houses and spend their days in the surrounding mountains, rivers and woodland - gorge walking, climbing and abseiling, high ropes and zip wire, an assault course, surfing and coasteering, paddleboarding and canoeing - alongside team sports on the school fields. The international programme adds formal English language tuition in small ability-grouped classes and return transport to London Heathrow.

About

About the Course

Two ways to join the camp. The international programme pairs the outdoor activity timetable with formal English language tuition: classes are small, campers are grouped according to ability, and the programme includes up to 20 hours of English language classes. The UK adventure week runs the same activity programme without language lessons. Both are residential and both are open to girls and boys aged 10 to 16.

What’s Included

The school offers a sibling discount on subsequent sibling bookings when more than one child from the same family enrols. The camp fee covers accommodation and bed linen, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and all activities. On the international programme it also covers excursions and return transport to London Heathrow Airport. Towels are not provided, and campers are advised to bring some pocket money for the Tuck Shop.

Accommodation

Campers live on the school campus in its boarding accommodation. Rooms are shared, with a limited number of single rooms available, and bed linen is provided - towels are not. Each camper is assigned a Team Leader, and resident House Leaders support the group through the stay.

Meal Plan

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included for every camper and served on the campus. Snacks can be bought separately at the school Tuck Shop.

Activities & Excursions

The activity programme uses the mountains, rivers and woodland around the school. Campers take on high ropes, zip wire, climbing and abseiling, gorge walking and an assault course; the second week adds surfing and coasteering on the coast, paddleboarding and canoeing, karting for the older group and alpaca walking for the younger one. Sports coaches run team games on the school fields - football, cricket and tennis, plus capture the flag, volleyball, water polo and swimming.

Facilities

The camp runs on the school own campus in Brecon, Powys, in the Brecon Beacons of mid Wales. Campers use the boarding houses, the dining hall, the sports fields and the school grounds, with the mountains, rivers and woodland of the national park on the doorstep. A Tuck Shop operates on site.

Camp Experience

A residential camp run by a Welsh boarding school on its own campus, rather than a programme hosted on rented premises. Campers from the United Kingdom and from abroad are mixed into the same activity groups, led by the school own staff and supported by resident House Leaders, and the international programme adds English practice to the adventure days.

More about this camp

Christ College Brecon is a boarding school in Brecon, Powys, and its summer adventure camps run on the school own campus at the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The camps are residential: campers sleep in the school boarding houses in shared rooms, with a limited number of single rooms, and breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on site. Each camper is assigned a Team Leader and resident House Leaders look after the group. The activity programme is built around the landscape. Campers climb and abseil, cross high ropes and a zip wire, walk gorges and run an assault course; coastal days bring surfing and coasteering, and the rivers bring paddleboarding and canoeing. Karting is offered to the older group and alpaca walking to the younger one. On the school fields, coaches run football, cricket and tennis along with capture the flag, volleyball, water polo and swimming. Families booking from abroad can choose the international programme, which keeps the whole activity timetable and adds formal English language tuition - small classes, grouped by ability, up to 20 hours of lessons - plus excursions and return transport to London Heathrow Airport. The camp fee in both cases covers accommodation and bed linen, all meals and all activities; towels are not provided and snacks are bought at the school Tuck Shop.
