More about this camp

The Stafford House Oakham Summer Camp runs at Oakham School, a prestigious boarding school founded in 1584, in Rutland, central England. It accepts students aged 8 to 17. Programme and activities. The camp offers English combined with horse riding — a specific equestrian specialism that distinguishes it from a general-English camp. It suits a child interested in riding as well as language. Families should confirm what the riding programme involves and whether it suits their child's level. Accommodation. Students stay in residential accommodation in the school's boarding houses, with shared bathroom facilities. The historic school's own boarding infrastructure is used. Families should confirm room configurations. Ages, dates and duration. The camp accepts students aged 8 to 17 — reaching younger than many, so it works for a primary-age child. Twenty arrival dates are listed from early July — a very wide calendar. Families of the youngest children should ask how age groups are separated. Location and travel. Oakham is in Rutland, England's smallest county, in the Midlands. Birmingham and East Midlands are the nearest airports, and rail links reach London. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This camp may suit families wanting English combined with horse riding in a historic boarding-school setting, for a child aged 8 to 17, including younger children. The equestrian strand is the draw for a riding-minded child. The very wide calendar adds flexibility. Parents of the youngest children should confirm the age-grouping arrangements.
