About

About the Course

General English for students aged 11 to 19 on the Lynn University campus in Boca Raton, taught by St Andrew's College Language Schools. Levels are set by an entry test, and the school accepts A1+ and A2 through B1 and B2 to C1 and C1+. Groups hold up to eighteen students, each lesson lasts an hour and a half, and the week carries an average of fifteen hours of teaching arranged on a zig-zag timetable — mornings on some days, afternoons on others — so that lessons and the excursion programme share the day.

What’s Included

The stay is sold as a thirteen-night residential programme. The school publishes three versions of it — Classic, Gold and Platinum — and, unlike at its British centres, prints a separate full programme price for each rather than an upgrade supplement; the Gold and Platinum options are therefore listed here by name and content only, without a surcharge figure. Classic includes paid entry to the Millionaires Row cruise, an Everglades airboat ride and a self-guided tour of the Gumbo Limbo nature centre. A damage deposit is collected on arrival, a fee applies to a lost key, and airport transfers are priced separately in the school's own transfer price list. The school also runs a Platinum version with an overnight stay in Orlando.

Accommodation

Students live on campus in the Count and Countess de Hoernle Residence Hall, in double-occupancy rooms with twin dormitory beds; each room has vanities and sinks. Bathrooms are shared: every floor has a central bathroom with four toilets and four showers, and a floor holds at most twenty-four students. The bathrooms are cleaned by the university's own cleaners, and students dispose of their own rubbish. There is no kitchen in the hall and no appliances or utensils are provided. Linen is provided, with a linen swap offered between the sixth and eighth day; towels are not provided. Laundry facilities are inside the residence hall and are charged per wash and dry. The hall has two courtyards used for activities, outdoor study and free time, and it has secure access entry systems and a twenty-four-hour security presence.

Meal Plan

Meals are served in the campus dining hall, and there is a drinks station on site. On excursion days the school provides a pre-paid card for three of the outings and a boxed meal for three others. Vending machines are available on campus; the fact sheet records no café on the campus itself.

Activities & Excursions

Full-day excursions run three times a week — six over a fortnight, one of them with a late return — and take students into Miami and South Florida: the Wynwood Walls, South Beach, Downtown Miami, the Everglades National Park and Naples. There are no half-day excursions. All journeys on the student excursion programme are made by private coach. Evening activities run daily, the centre holds a disco, and the campus swimming pool, gymnasium and outdoor sports facilities are available to students.

Facilities

A compact, green campus in Boca Raton with classrooms, dormitories and dining areas within easy walking distance of each other. The campus has a swimming pool, a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a theatre, a campus store, a dining hall and a drinks station, plus open grounds with a pond and fountain and outdoor dining space. Wi-Fi covers the site, vending machines and first-aid-trained staff are on site, and security is posted twenty-four hours at all campus entry points. The centre has no common room, study room or computer room, and no safe box.

Camp Experience

Boca Raton is a quiet, safe town on the Atlantic coast just outside Miami, and the campus sits about two miles from the shops in town — five minutes by coach, seventeen by public bus. Miami itself is the draw: art deco architecture, South Beach, Bayside, the murals of the Wynwood Walls, and the Everglades within reach for a day. Staff live on site around the clock — a centre manager, a welfare coordinator, an activities and excursions manager, a director of studies and overnight welfare liaison supervisors — wearing purple shirts and green lanyards, while students wear purple lanyards at all times. The school states on the centre's own page that this course is not hosted, co-sponsored or endorsed by Lynn University.
