About
About the Course
Teenagers follow a morning English programme of twenty structured lessons per week, taught by qualified teachers using the Sol Camps curriculum. Lessons focus on communication, confidence and real conversation rather than grammar drills. Students complete an online English assessment before arrival and are placed by result; unless they ask otherwise they join Adventure English or The Discover Challenge, and a class change can be requested after the first lessons. Classes are grouped by level using the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and each camper receives a graduation certificate showing their final CEFR level. Teenagers are taught at a ratio of one teacher to fifteen students.
What’s Included
The overnight programme runs Sunday to Sunday with round-the-clock supervision and covers morning English tuition, accommodation and all meals, afternoon and evening activities, Friday, Saturday and Sunday excursions, health insurance and a two-way airport transfer. Airport transfers are arranged by the Sol Camps team for overnight bookings. Check-in and check-out are normally on Sundays; a Saturday arrival is possible for individual bookings against an additional night, and the operator states that no reduction is offered for shortening a stay.
Accommodation
Campers stay in secure University College London residences on campus, with single, double and triple room options. All buildings have key card entry and are staffed around the clock, and common rooms with televisions, games and Wi-Fi give campers somewhere to relax after the day. Rooms are assigned by the camp with a nationality mix in mind; room and roommate requests are considered but not guaranteed. Residential areas are designated by gender. Parents are generally not accommodated in the student residence.
Meal Plan
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. The day starts with a cooked breakfast of eggs, fresh fruit, waffles, cereals and yogurt; lunch and dinner are served buffet-style on campus with a rotating menu designed to reflect the nationalities at camp, including rice dishes, pasta, chicken, salads, fresh fruit, soups, pizza and burgers. On excursion days campers are given packed meals or food vouchers. With advance notice the catering team provides vegetarian, Halal, Kosher, gluten-free and other dietary options.
Activities & Excursions
Each weekday afternoon and evening is organised: sports tournaments, campus events, creative challenges and themed nights, with talent shows and social clubs in the evening programme. Weekends are full-day excursions to London landmarks including the Tower of London, the British Museum, Hyde Park and the West End, plus day trips to Windsor and Brighton. Campers travel on foot, by public transport or by camp bus depending on the destination. Participation is expected, and a camper who does not join a particular activity stays on campus.
Facilities
The camp is based on the University College London campus, where campers both study and live. Residences sit on campus with key card entry and round-the-clock staffing; common rooms are equipped with televisions, games and Wi-Fi. Meals are served on campus, and a cafeteria is available for additional self-paid meals.
Camp Experience
A London summer that puts English to work outside the classroom: mornings in small level-based classes, afternoons and evenings across the city, and weekends on full-day excursions. Campers come from many countries and rooms are paired with that mix in mind, so the language is practised with people who do not share a first language. Staff are selected and background-checked, hold First Aid certification where required, and follow the operator safeguarding policy.
