About
About the Course
The course follows a communicative approach with mixed-nationality classes of just 12–13 students on average (maximum 16), allowing plenty of individual attention. Lessons run from Monday to Friday, with an online placement test before arrival to ensure correct level placement from elementary to advanced. The focus is balanced across speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary, with teachers regularly monitoring progress and providing an academic report and certificate at the end of the stay.
What’s Included
The base price includes 15 hours of English tuition per week, residential accommodation in single en-suite bedrooms close to the school, three meals per day, 13 activity sessions, one full-day excursion weekly, Sunday transfers to and from Heathrow or Stansted, registration, 24-hour emergency support, and an end-of-course report with certificate. There are no hidden fees for vegetarian or non-pork options, and most special dietary requirements can be met at no extra cost if requested in advance.
Accommodation
Students stay in comfortable, secure student residences located just 5–10 minutes’ walk from the school and 10–20 minutes from central Cambridge. All bedrooms are single rooms with a private en-suite bathroom and shower, and bed linen is changed once per week. Free laundry facilities are available, though students do their own washing. Studio staff live in the same residences, ensuring a high staff-to-student ratio, 24/7 support, and a safe, supervised environment with a nightly bedtime of 22:30 and curfew of 21:30.
Meal Plan
Full board (three meals per day) is provided at the school, with a wide choice of hot and cold food. A vegetarian option and a non-pork option are always available, and most special dietary requirements can be accommodated at no extra cost if requested in advance. At weekends, packed lunches are provided.
Activities & Excursions
The programme includes 13 activity sessions per week, which may take place in the morning, afternoon, or evening, offering a wide choice of sports (football, basketball, swimming, volleyball, ultimate frisbee), arts and crafts (clay modelling, charcoal sketching, T‑shirt design, mask making, friendship bracelets), cultural activities (punting on the River Cam, Cambridge college tours, museum visits, selfie challenges), and evening events (movie nights, themed parties, bingo, English club). The goal is to balance fun, culture, language practice, and group bonding while allowing some supervised free time on Sunday mornings and before or after classes.
Facilities
The school is located in beautiful Victorian buildings in central Cambridge, with 16 classrooms, a Studio Café, a garden, and Wi‑Fi. Within a 10‑minute walk, students also have access to a sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, and outdoor playing fields. For cultural visits, Cambridge’s iconic sites—King’s College Chapel, the River Cam for punting, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the Botanic Gardens, and several university museums—are all easily reachable.
Camp Experience
With over 50 years of experience running Sir Michael since 1968, Studio Cambridge offers a trusted, high-quality educational experience. Teachers are qualified and experienced in teaching young learners, and the high staff-to-student ratio, live‑in welfare officers, and 24‑hour emergency line ensure constant care and safety. The atmosphere is friendly, supportive, and international—students from a wide range of nationalities learn together in small classes, build confidence through a structured yet fun programme, and leave with lasting memories, new friends, and a tangible record of progress through the academic report and certificate.

This course is designed for students who want to improve their general English in a structured, supportive environment. The main goal is to build confidence across all four skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) while following a curriculum tailored to younger learners. Its unique strength lies in balancing language development with a welcoming camp atmosphere.
Lessons follow a student-centred approach where experienced teachers use collaborative projects, role plays, and real‑life speaking tasks to reinforce grammar and vocabulary. Classes are kept small to ensure personal attention, and materials include age‑appropriate textbooks plus authentic resources like short articles and audio clips. The emphasis is on practical communication: you will practise speaking and listening daily, while also developing reading, writing, and core grammar in meaningful contexts. Each lesson actively involves you through pair work, group discussions, and guided practice. Teachers monitor your progress continuously and provide regular feedback, so you always know what to improve. The atmosphere is friendly and low‑pressure, encouraging you to take risks with new language without fear of making mistakes.
A balanced English course that builds all four language skills through interactive, project‑based learning in a supportive camp environment.
