The course is for dancers who will be aged 10 to 15 on 31 August of the course year and who already have a good base and strong foundation relevant to their age. The School states that students should be regularly attending classes and studying either a recognised syllabus or their dance school’s method of training.
Dancers aged 10 to 12 may choose a one-week course. Dancers aged 13 to 15 may choose a one-week or a two-week course, inside the School’s five-week Summer Intensive period at White Lodge.
The School states that at White Lodge a student applies for a single one-week course or a single two-week course during the five-week period — for example, a student applying for a one-week course should choose week 1 or week 3, not both.
Students are selected from the photographs and information they submit with their application. Applicants for the selective course aged 10 to 19 need to submit photographs as part of the application.
Classes are taught by The Royal Ballet School’s Artistic staff, in some cases the Artistic Director, and guest teachers. Dancers from The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet often appear as guest teachers. All teaching staff are required to comply with the School’s safeguarding policies.
The residential course fee covers tuition and full board accommodation at White Lodge. An application fee is charged separately for each Intensive Course — see the extras on this page.
