This residential English summer camp is based at Hurst College in Hurstpierpoint, a village in the Sussex countryside near Brighton. It is designed for international young learners and teenagers, normally aged 8 to 17, who want to study English in a lively British boarding-school environment. The historic campus provides a spacious setting for learning, socialising and recreation, while its location supports cultural visits around southern England. Students join a multinational community and are encouraged to build confidence, friendships and independence through everyday communication in English. The programme combines General English lessons with a broad activity and excursion experience, so learning continues beyond the classroom. Students develop their language skills through classes, supervised social interaction, sport, art and performance-based activities. The school describes welfare as central to the experience, with accommodation, meals, support, security and first aid forming part of its residential provision. Carefully selected staff and an experienced Welfare Manager support students’ academic and pastoral well-being, with an emphasis on listening to students and maintaining a safe, welcoming and respectful community.

About

About the Course

A General English course taught on the Hurst College campus. Students sit a placement test on arrival and finish with a course certificate and a written report. The daily timetable prints lesson slots at half past nine, half past eleven and two in the afternoon, the last of which alternates with a house meeting; the rest of the day belongs to the activity programme.

What’s Included

The fee covers the placement test, the General English course with certificate and report, full board and accommodation on campus, laundry service, twenty-four hour support, the daily activity programme with weekly tournaments, discos and talent shows, and one full-day and one half-day excursion each week. Student travel insurance is included for direct enrolments. Airport transfers are not included and most students need one; the school publishes a price for each London airport.

Accommodation

All accommodation is on the Hurst College campus, which the school treats as part of its supervision as well as a convenience. Girls and boys live in separate houses, with trained house managers and house assistants living in the houses themselves. Rooms are single, twin, triple and four-bed, along with dormitories of no more than six beds, all with shared bathrooms. Requests to share a room or for a particular allocation are met subject to availability, and the campus is patrolled at night.

Meal Plan

Three meals a day, cooked and served in the on-site refectory, with two refreshment breaks for students who are on campus. Packed lunches are provided twice a week for excursion days. Special diets can be requested.

Activities & Excursions

A daily activity programme that students sign up to three times a day, with weekly tournaments, discos and talent shows every second week. Sport uses the campus sports hall and the indoor swimming pool. Each week brings one full-day and one half-day excursion to towns and cities around the south of England.

Facilities

The course runs on the campus of Hurst College in Hurstpierpoint, a village in West Sussex between Brighton and the South Downs. On campus there is an indoor swimming pool, a fully equipped sports hall, an IT suite, a student common room in every house, a refectory, and WiFi across most of the site.

Camp Experience

A campus summer school where lessons, meals, activities and sleeping quarters are all inside the same grounds, so younger students are supervised throughout the day. House managers and assistants live in the houses with the students, support is available around the clock, and the campus is patrolled at night.
