About

About the Course

Immersion students follow the British curriculum alongside Ratcliffe pupils, with a personalised timetable built for the length of their stay and academic classes taught by subject specialists. English is assessed on arrival, and the school publishes a minimum of twenty hours of English language teaching a week across reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary. All study materials and personalised academic support are part of the programme, as is a peer mentor to help the student settle in. A separate Pre-University Immersion Programme is available for older students preparing for Sixth Form study.

What’s Included

The programme is sold all-inclusive on a weekly basis. The fee covers the personalised timetable, academic and English language teaching, all study materials and academic support, full-board accommodation in the school boarding houses, the weekly boarding activity programme and local visits, twice-weekly cultural and educational trips, and return airport transfers from London Heathrow and Birmingham International on Sundays. School uniform is arranged on request through the school's second-hand shop or its official suppliers.

Accommodation

Full board in the college boarding houses on the campus at Ratcliffe on the Wreake, in the Leicestershire countryside. Immersion students live in the boarding house with British and international boarders and have the school's pastoral care and full access to its facilities.

Meal Plan

Full board is included in the weekly fee: students eat in the college dining hall with the rest of the boarding community.

Activities & Excursions

Students have access to more than a hundred co-curricular activities running at the school, join the weekly boarding activity programme and local visits, and take part in twice-weekly cultural and educational trips to historic towns and cultural sites around the region.

Facilities

Immersion students have full access to the college facilities and its boarding houses on a countryside campus with more than a hundred and seventy-five years of history.

Camp Experience

This is a boarding school term experienced from the inside rather than a holiday camp. Students live and study alongside British pupils and classmates from more than twenty nationalities, follow a real school timetable, take part in the same activities and trips, and leave with a working sense of what a UK independent school is actually like. No entrance exam or interview is required; the school asks for a recent academic report and, if the student wishes, a short self-recorded introduction video.
