About

About the Course

The programme offers 15 hours of English lessons per week, delivered in classes with a maximum size of 20 students to ensure individual attention and active participation. Teaching follows a communicative and interactive methodology that focuses on collaboration through creative projects and review sessions, using English in real-world contexts. Lessons build all core language skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – with a strong emphasis on communication, fluency, and confidence. Students are placed into classes according to their English level, which ranges from Elementary to Proficiency, and the programme can be adjusted to accommodate lower levels if needed.

The curriculum is designed in-house and uses engaging, modern topics that students can relate to. The programme's collaboration with National Geographic Learning ensures access to high-quality, engaging course materials that bring the world into the classroom. Each lesson provides students with opportunities to reflect on their learning process and develop critical thinking skills while using English. Additional academic choices include the Trinity GESE exam, as well as customised curriculums such as Employability for the 21st Century (available for students aged 14+ with minimum English level B1) and Academic Skills for Higher Education (available for students with minimum English level B1, minimum of 12 students).

More about this camp

This English summer camp is hosted on the Oxford Brookes University campus at Harcourt Hill, in landscaped grounds near Oxford. It accepts students aged 12 to 17. Note that Oxford Brookes is a separate institution from the University of Oxford — the two are often confused. Programme and activities. The camp offers English tuition on a spacious, green university campus, with Oxford accessible for the excursion and activity programme. The landscaped setting gives a calmer base than a city-centre location. Accommodation. Students stay in single en-suite bedrooms arranged along corridors of six to eight rooms. Single en-suite rooms give each student privacy, and the corridor grouping keeps small clusters together. As a university rather than a school, families should ask what supervision applies outside teaching hours. Ages, dates and duration. The camp accepts students aged 12 to 17. Two arrival dates are listed from mid-July; families should confirm whether further dates are available. Location and travel. Harcourt Hill is on the western edge of Oxford. Oxford is around an hour from London and Heathrow by coach. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This camp may suit teenagers who want a green university campus near Oxford with their own en-suite room, rather than a city-centre or boarding-school setting. Families should be clear that this is Oxford Brookes, not the University of Oxford, and confirm the full set of dates before booking. Note that Embassy Summer also runs a centre at Oxford Brookes' Headington campus in this catalogue.
