Oundle School is situated in the heart of the traditional English market town of Oundle, in Northamptonshire, a beautiful rural county in central England, offering excellent access to Cambridge and being within an hour of London. Often likened to a smaller version of Oxford due to its stunning architecture, this unique campus is our only city campus and offers students autonomy with regular supervised trips into town, creating an experience similar to that of a university. Designed for students aged 10 to 17, the programme offers a combination of English language tuition and sports coaching, with 15 hours of each per week. The all-inclusive package covers on-campus accommodation, three meals a day, airport transfers, and full welfare support. The main goal is to help students grow in confidence, build meaningful friendships with peers from around the globe, and create unforgettable memories in a prestigious British boarding school setting.

About

About the Course

The programme offers three options to suit different needs and interests. The English + Sport option includes 15 hours of English tuition per week and 15 hours of specialist sport coaching per week. The Sport Only option with two sports provides 15 hours per week of one sport and 15 hours per week of another sport. The One Sport Only option is designed for students passionate about a single sport and includes 30 hours of intensive sport coaching per week. Sports available include Arsenal Football, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, and Horse Riding with an additional supplement. The English programme follows a project-based approach with two pathways: the English Foundation Pathway for levels A1 to C1 and the Step-Up English Pathway for levels B2 to C2. Lessons use authentic, up-to-date materials rather than textbooks. All courses are taught by qualified and experienced professionals.

The English + Basketball programme offers students the opportunity to combine structured English language learning with professional basketball coaching. The main goal is to improve both linguistic fluency and basketball skills while developing confidence, teamwork, and a professional mindset. The unique approach integrates classroom-based English lessons with on-court training led by experienced coaches, including a former professional basketball player, helping students improve their game while learning English in an immersive environment.

Students receive 15 hours of classroom-based English lessons per week, taught by qualified teachers. The English programme follows a project-based approach with two pathways: the English Foundation Pathway for levels A1 to C1 focuses on building functional English, practical grammar, and everyday communication through group projects and real-life language use. The Step-Up English Pathway for levels B2 to C2 develops skills for real-world academic, professional, and leadership settings through seminars, presentations, and debates. Lessons use authentic, up-to-date materials rather than textbooks. On arrival, students are placed into the appropriate pathway based on their level, maturity, and speaking confidence, and can move between pathways if ready. Students also receive 15 hours of basketball coaching per week. The basketball coaching programme is designed and led by experienced coaches, including a former professional basketball player, and covers fitness, agility, dribbling, shooting, tactical play, teamwork, and communication. Training includes small-sided matches and shooting exercises daily to boost confidence and endurance. The programme adopts a professional training approach, instilling discipline, a strong work ethic, and the right mindset for success on the court. Students are assessed at the start and conclusion of the programme to track progress in both basketball skills and English language ability. All participants must have at least one year of basketball experience.

The course is focused on improving both English language fluency and basketball skills through structured classroom lessons and professional coaching.
