Meal Plan

The week is fully catered: meals are provided at the centre for the whole course.

Activities & Excursions

Water days can include coasteering, gorge scrambling, canoeing, sea and white-water kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and surfing. Land days can include rock climbing, abseiling, mountain walking and scrambling, and trips into the abandoned slate mines of the area.

The centre provides the accommodation, catering and communal space; the activity days themselves run off site, in the mountains and rivers of Eryri (Snowdonia) and along the coastline of Anglesey.

More about this camp

Arete Outdoor Centre runs its multi-activity week from its own site in Llanrug, between Caernarfon and the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia). The week lasts five days, starting at midday and finishing mid-afternoon on the last day, and it is built around choice: every morning the instructors go through the options with the groups and the day is spent on whatever the group picks. Water days can mean coasteering along the sea cliffs, gorge scrambling up the rivers, sea or white-water kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding or a surf session off a local beach. Land days can mean rock climbing and abseiling on the many crags nearby, a mountain walk or scramble, or a trip down one of the old slate mines. Accommodation and all meals are at the centre, in one of its three buildings, and transport to and from Bangor railway station can be arranged. The week is open from age 16 and can count as a Gold Duke of Edinburgh residential.
