About

About the Course

Students choose one academic stream and study it for the full two weeks, with twenty-five hours of study per week. Classes hold a maximum of twelve students and average nine, so every student gets individual attention from the tutor. Six streams run at the Cambridge centre: Business, Finance and Economics; Computing, Robotics and AI; Medicine and Sciences; Physics and Engineering; Politics and Law; Psychology and Sociology. No prior study of the subject is required, and English language development runs through the whole course. Lectures and career talks are given by university academics in their fields.

What’s Included

The residential fee covers tuition, a single en-suite room, all meals, travel and medical insurance, after-school, evening and weekend activities, one full-day coach excursion, the awards ceremony and farewell party, a branded certificate and an academic report. A day-student option without accommodation also exists; it covers Monday to Friday tuition, lunch, academic excursions and the closing events, and does not include breakfast, dinner or the evening and weekend activities. An intermediate level of English is required to join, at IELTS 5.0 or CEFR B1 and above.

Accommodation

Residential students live at Tripos Court, a purpose-built student residence about fifteen minutes on foot from the college. Rooms are premium en-suite singles. Staff chaperone students between the residence and the college each day.

Meal Plan

All meals are included for residential students. Lunch is served Monday to Friday at the college; breakfast and dinner are taken at the residence. Day students receive lunch Monday to Friday and no other meals.

Activities & Excursions

Afternoons and evenings carry a scheduled programme of cultural, social and sporting activities, with a full-day coach excursion during the course. Cambridge students take university and subject tours of the city and its colleges. The programme closes with an awards ceremony and a farewell party.

Facilities

Teaching is in the college buildings on Brookside, in the centre of Cambridge, a short walk from the historic university quarter and the city’s science and technology companies.

Camp Experience

The intake deliberately mixes British and international students, so English is the working language of the classroom and of the social programme. Alongside the academic stream, the My Path; My Way workshops cover life skills such as critical thinking and public speaking, and enrichment sessions broaden the subject beyond the syllabus.

More about this camp

The MPW Summer School in Cambridge is an academic summer course rather than a general language camp. Students aged 14 to 17 choose a single academic stream and spend two weeks on it, twenty-five hours of study per week, in classes capped at twelve students and averaging nine. Six streams are taught at the Cambridge centre: Business, Finance and Economics; Computing, Robotics and AI; Medicine and Sciences; Physics and Engineering; Politics and Law; and Psychology and Sociology. No previous study of the chosen subject is needed; what is required is an intermediate level of English, IELTS 5.0 or CEFR B1 and above. Teaching takes place in the college on Brookside, in the middle of Cambridge, within walking distance of the university colleges and of the technology companies that have grown up around them. University academics give lectures and career talks in their own fields, and Cambridge students are taken on university and subject tours of the city. Residential students live at Tripos Court, a purpose-built residence about fifteen minutes’ walk away, in premium en-suite single rooms, and are chaperoned between residence and college each day. The residential fee covers tuition, the room, all meals, travel and medical insurance, the activity programme, a full-day coach excursion, the awards ceremony and farewell party, a certificate and an academic report. Families living locally can instead take the day-student option, which covers weekday tuition, lunch and academic excursions. Beside the academic stream, the My Path; My Way programme teaches life skills — critical thinking, public speaking — and enrichment sessions open the subject out beyond the syllabus. The intake is a deliberate mix of British and international students, which makes English the working language of both the classroom and the social programme.
