About
About the Course
English lessons for one parent and one child together at Moreton Hall, a British boarding school in Shropshire. Children are taught in age groups and parents have their own classes. Pupils are tested on the first day and teaching is tailored to each student's level; there is no minimum level of English required. Classes are taught by British or first-language English teachers, with a maximum of 12 students per class.
What’s Included
The course price covers one adult and one child and is quoted by the school per week. Bookings run from one to six weeks, Sunday to Sunday. An extra child and an extra adult are each charged separately — see the paid extras. A 20% deposit secures the booking; the balance is due one month before arrival. Airport transfers are charged separately and are not part of the course price. The school publishes one weekly rate and does not publish package prices for longer stays: the totals shown for two or more weeks are that published weekly rate multiplied by the number of weeks.
Accommodation
Families stay on the school campus. The school's own wording is: 'We offer family rooms with ensuites. Family rooms can take up to 5 people. If you wish to bring a larger group then please talk with us as we have other accommodation options also.' A limited number of cots is available on request. Check-in is from 4pm on Sunday and check-out by 10am.
Meal Plan
Three meals a day are provided throughout the stay. The school notes that no lunch is provided on the Sunday of arrival or departure. The school says it aims to offer a variety of options for dietary or medical requirements and asks guests to state these when booking. Common rooms next to the accommodation are stocked with fruit, bread and tea and coffee making facilities.
Activities & Excursions
Parents can take part daily in cultural, sporting, creative and social activities. Children join British children in the school's Holiday Club every afternoon. A full-day excursion runs on Saturday and an optional trip every Sunday. Typical excursions named by the school: Manchester and Liverpool museums and art galleries, the historic towns and castles of Shrewsbury and Chester, Chester Zoo, Blists Hill Victorian Town, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, the North Wales coast and castles, and a designer retail outlet.
Facilities
100 acres of grounds, an indoor 25-metre heated pool, a modern sports hall, a fitness suite for parents, all-weather pitches and playing fields, 12 tennis courts, a theatre, a dining hall, a health centre, a tuck shop, common rooms and lounges, laundry facilities and free site-wide Wi-Fi with IT support.
Camp Experience
Moreton Hall has welcomed international families since the 1950s. The school accommodates about 40 families per week and says it manages the proportion of students from any single nationality to keep the group mixed. Parents who are not attending lessons or organised trips are expected to remain on site.

An English course taken together by one parent and one child. Children aged 3 to 12 are taught in age groups (the school timetables ages 3-7 and 8-13 separately) and join the Holiday Club alongside British children in the afternoons; parents have their own lessons and may join cultural, sporting, creative and social activities. Pupils are tested on their first day and teaching is tailored to each student's level. Classes are taught by British or first-language English teachers, with a maximum of 12 students per class.
Children and parents have separate English classes: children are taught in age groups and parents have their own lessons, with no more than 12 students per class and teaching matched to each student's level after a test on the first day. In the afternoons children join British children in the school's Holiday Club, while parents can take part in cultural, sporting, creative and social activities; a full-day excursion runs on Saturday and an optional trip on Sunday.
No minimum level of English required. The school writes that parents are encouraged to take part in classes and are expected to remain on site if they are not attending lessons or organised trips, and that the price is the same whether or not a parent attends lessons.
