More about this camp

The LiA London Summer Centre at Garden Halls runs the Language in Action programme at Garden Halls, a modern University of London residence on Cartwright Gardens in Bloomsbury, near King's Cross. It accepts students aged 12 to 18. Programme and activities. Students take 30 hours of English tuition per two-week term — an intensive load. Bloomsbury is central London's university and museum quarter, so the British Museum, university buildings and Russell Square are close, and the whole city is on the underground. Accommodation. Students stay at Garden Halls, a modern University of London residence on Cartwright Gardens. Living in the residence keeps students centrally based; families should confirm room arrangements and what supervision applies outside teaching hours. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 12 to 18. The upper limit reaches past school-leaving age, so families should ask how age groups are separated. Four arrival dates are listed from late June. Location and travel. Cartwright Gardens is in Bloomsbury, central London, close to King's Cross and St Pancras — convenient for rail arrival including from Europe via Eurostar. All London airports are reachable, with varying journey times. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit teenagers who want a central-London base with a heavy 30-hour teaching load and good rail links. LiA runs several London residences — Garden Halls, Parry Hall, UCL and UEL Docklands — plus Liverpool and Manchester centres, so families should compare on exact location and residence; this one is close to King's Cross. Given the intake runs to 18, families of a younger teenager should confirm grouping and supervision.
