More about this camp

The LiA Liverpool Summer Centre runs the Language in Action programme at Liverpool Hope University's Hope Park campus in Childwall, Liverpool. It accepts students aged 12 to 18. Programme and activities. Students take 30 hours of English tuition per two-week term — a substantial teaching load compared with the 15-hour weeks common elsewhere. The green campus setting in a residential part of Liverpool gives a calm base, with the city accessible for excursions. Accommodation. Students stay in campus accommodation at Hope Park, with weekly room cleaning, bed linen and laundry facilities. Living on the university campus keeps accommodation and teaching together. As a university rather than a school, families should ask what supervision applies outside teaching hours, particularly for younger students. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 12 to 18. The upper limit reaches past school-leaving age, so a 12-year-old could share the centre with 18-year-olds; families should ask how age groups are separated. Three arrival dates are listed from early July. Location and travel. Childwall is a residential district of Liverpool. Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester airports are both within reach, and Liverpool has rail links across the country. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit families wanting an intensive 30-hour teaching load in a green university campus setting, in a northern English city. Given the intake runs to 18, families of a younger teenager should confirm grouping and supervision. LiA runs several London centres and a Manchester centre in this catalogue, so families should compare on city and campus.
