More about this camp

Heathfield International Summer School runs at Heathfield School, a girls' boarding school set in 36 acres of grounds in Ascot, around an hour from London and Heathrow. It is a residential summer school for girls aged 8 to 17. Please note. Heathfield is a girls' boarding school year-round, and the summer school is for girls only. Families with a son should look elsewhere in the catalogue; families specifically wanting a single-sex environment for their daughter will find this a rare option in this catalogue. Programme and activities. The programme centres on 15 hours of English a week, using the school's facilities and grounds, with an activity and excursion programme around it. The contained 36-acre campus keeps most of camp life on one secure site. Accommodation. Girls stay in the school's own boarding houses. Because Heathfield operates as a boarding school through the year, the residential and pastoral structure is designed for this age group rather than adapted for the summer. Ages, dates and duration. The camp accepts girls aged 8 to 17 — a wide band, so families of the youngest should ask how age groups are separated for teaching, accommodation and supervision. One session is currently listed, beginning in late July; families should confirm whether other dates are available. Location and travel. Ascot is in Berkshire, around an hour from London and close to Heathrow, which makes arrival straightforward for a girl travelling alone. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This school may suit families who specifically want a girls-only environment for their daughter, on a traditional English boarding-school campus with easy Heathrow access. The single-sex setting and secure grounds may reassure parents of a younger girl. Families wanting a co-educational programme should look elsewhere, as boys are not accepted.
