The Global Leadership Experience (GLE) is a UWC Atlantic Short Course in Global Systems Leadership for 15–17 year olds. The programme invites young people from across the world to develop the mindsets, skills and courage needed to create positive change — locally, nationally and globally. It is an immersive residential programme combining experiential workshops, outdoor learning, real-world case studies and deeply reflective experiences, designed to help participants understand complex global systems, practise emergent forms of leadership and experience the power of a diverse international community. The course is accredited as a UWC Short Course and is a stepping stone toward deeper UWC engagement, with up to 60 participants and delivery by a team of professional Visiting Faculty — experienced educators, systems thinkers and practitioners who provide mentorship, academic challenge and career guidance.

Learning is experiential rather than classroom-based: workshops, outdoor education, real-world case studies, storytelling and reflective practice explore how global systems shape local realities, planetary boundaries and complex challenges such as climate and inequality. Leadership is examined through diverse cultural models, collaborative practice and navigating complexity, with coastal Wales — its ecosystems, heritage and communities — acting as a living classroom.

The course focuses on building systems thinking, regenerative and collaborative leadership, and the courage to move from critique to creation in addressing complex global challenges.
