About

About the Course

This programme is designed specifically for families with younger children aged 5–11, giving parents and kids an opportunity to start or improve their English together in a calm environment. The focus is on building confidence through age-appropriate lessons and shared experiences, combining language learning with gentle exploration of London and nearby cities. The course offers 20 lessons (about 16.7 hours) of English per week, with children studying at the beautiful Highgate Library and parents at the nearby St Giles Highgate school. Lessons follow a general English syllabus with small classes, using interactive, communicative methods to develop speaking, listening and everyday vocabulary for both adults and children.

What’s Included

The full package includes 20 morning lessons per week, three afternoon activities and one full-day excursion per week, as well as light weekday lunches and homestay accommodation in twin rooms with breakfast. Families can also arrange hotel accommodation instead of homestay and may add extra services or excursions upon request.

Accommodation

Accommodation is offered in carefully selected local homestays in Highgate and nearby areas, as well as hotel options for families who prefer more independence and comfort. All options are chosen to provide a welcoming, safe base within easy reach of the school and activity meeting points.

Meal Plan

Families receive breakfast every day and light lunches on weekdays at the school, simplifying mealtimes during course days. Evening meals and weekend lunches are not included. Special dietary requirements can be arranged on request for an additional fee.

Activities & Excursions

The activity and excursion programme includes three half-day activities and one full-day excursion per week, with options such as guided London sightseeing, museums, boat trips, soft play centres, petting zoos and visits to cities like Brighton, Cambridge or Oxford. Activities are designed for parents and children to enjoy together, giving plenty of opportunities to practise English in informal, fun situations.

Facilities

Facilities available to families include the well-equipped St Giles Highgate school with modern classrooms, interactive whiteboards, a self-access study centre, student café, bookshop and free Wi‑Fi, as well as the nearby Highgate Library used for children’s lessons. The green surroundings, school garden and easy access to local parks support a comfortable learning environment away from the noise of central London.

Camp Experience

St Giles London Highgate is part of a long-established English language organisation with many years of experience in running junior and family programmes. Qualified teachers, small classes, close supervision ratios and a calm suburban setting create a friendly atmosphere where young children and their parents can feel secure, make international friends and make steady progress in English.

More about this camp

This family course takes place at St Giles Highgate — a programme where the whole family attends and studies together, not a camp where a child is sent alone. Parents and children both take part. Programme and activities. The London Highgate Family Course is held in a quieter, greener part of London than the provider's central Bloomsbury course, while central London remains about twenty minutes away by tube. The children's age range runs from 5 to 11 — the youngest of the provider's family courses — studying alongside their parents. Accommodation. Family accommodation is arranged in the Highgate area; families should confirm the specific options and how far they are from the school. Because families stay together throughout, supervision of a young child is a family matter rather than the school's. Ages, dates and duration. The children's age range is 5 to 11, the most junior of the family-course locations, studying alongside adults. One session is currently listed, beginning in mid-June; families should confirm whether other dates are available. Location and travel. Highgate is in North London, on the Northern line, around twenty minutes from the centre and within reach of all London airports at varying journey times. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This course may suit families with a young child — the 5-to-11 range is pitched at exactly that group — who want a calm, green base while keeping central London accessible. As with the other family courses, the point is that the family learns and stays together rather than a child attending alone. Families with an older child, or who want a livelier central base, should compare the provider's London Central, Cambridge and Brighton family courses.
