About

About the Course

English tuition on the Experience London programme, taught in classes of a maximum of fifteen students. The timetable runs to twenty-two lessons per week, equivalent to seventeen classroom hours, and is built so that language work supports the London excursions that give the programme its name.

What’s Included

The course fee covers tuition, accommodation on full board, the activity programme and excursions. Homestay students have daily transport to and from the school and a hot lunch at school included. Residential and homestay are sold as separate courses with their own age ranges, and tuition-only and tuition-plus-programme configurations are offered by the operator as separate options.

Accommodation

Two kinds of accommodation are offered. On campus, the operator houses girls and boys in separate boarding houses: the Girls’ House has twenty-four beds in twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a common room, and the Boys’ House has thirty-five beds in single, twin and some triple rooms with shared bathrooms and two common rooms with a pool table and table tennis. Large common rooms offer IT and internet access. In homestay, the operator places students with local host families and states that junior students share a room; hosts provide bed, breakfast and dinner, students are met on arrival by the Homestay Organiser and their hosts, and daily transport is provided for all homestay students.

Meal Plan

Full board. Residential students eat at the school. Homestay students have breakfast and an evening meal with their host family and a hot lunch at school, which is included in the fee.

Activities & Excursions

The Experience London programme includes two excursions to London each week plus an additional full-day excursion to Canterbury, Cambridge and Brighton. Local visits include Rochester Guildhall, Castle and Cathedral. On-site activities include sports, drama, swimming, and arts and crafts.

Facilities

A city centre campus with fifteen classrooms, each with a whiteboard, CD and DVD players and a television, a large hall for performances, activities and presentations, a large sports field, a sports hall and an indoor swimming pool on site, and spacious common rooms with pool, table tennis and television.

Camp Experience

The King’s School is the second oldest school in the UK, founded in 604 AD, and sits in a traditional historic city with a magnificent cathedral and a famous Norman castle with connections to King John and Henry III. Rochester has a shopping centre and excellent transport links to all major UK cities and airports, and London is close enough to visit twice a week.

Concorde International

Concorde International is an English language teaching organisation based in Canterbury, Kent, which runs residential and homestay summer courses for young learners on the campuses of independent schools and colleges across Kent and in Bath. The organisation publishes its own junior price list and junior terms and conditions, takes the registrations and the payments itself, and provides the teaching staff, the activity and excursion programme, the supervision and the airport transfers; the schools and colleges named in each course supply the classrooms, the sports facilities and, where a course is residential, the boarding houses. Teachers hold a minimum CELTA teaching qualification or equivalent, classes follow a task-based communicative syllabus, and every student receives a certificate and a progress report at the end of the course. Separate programmes are offered for individual young learners and for school groups travelling with a group leader.
