About the Course

The academic programme focuses on communicative skills and is delivered by trained, friendly teachers. Students receive 20 lessons (45 minutes each) per week in well-equipped classrooms. Upon arrival, a placement test ensures students are grouped into classes of approximately 17, according to their level, age, and nationality mix. The curriculum emphasises practical English use, with progress confirmed by teachers in the first days and an end-of-course certificate awarded upon completion.

What’s Included

The base package includes English lessons, full-board accommodation in single en-suite rooms at the UEL campus, a weekly schedule of on-site activities, and a programme of included half and full-day excursions (e.g., London walking tours, museums, trips to Cambridge/Brighton). Group airport transfers are also included in the package. Personal transfers can be arranged through Embassy Summer for an additional fee. Optional excursions (e.g., Thorpe Park, London Eye, musicals), guard.me insurance if needed and laundry services are available at extra cost. A mandatory refundable damage deposit (£30/£40) is required upon arrival.

The campus features 24-hour security, CCTV, free Wi-Fi, communal lounges, laundry facilities, and a night supervisor. The accommodation is cleaned weekly, and room keys are issued to students, with master key access reserved for staff in case of emergencies.

Full-board accommodation is provided, with all meals served in the university dining hall, The Edge. The catering offers a nutritional balance with daily options, including hot and cold meals and vegetarian choices. Packed lunches are provided on excursion days. Dietary requirements can be catered for if notified at least two weeks in advance.

More about this camp

This Embassy Summer centre operates at the University of East London Docklands Campus, on the waterfront in the Royal Docks of east London. It accepts students aged 11 to 18. Programme and activities. The course listed is a General Language Course. The Docklands campus is a modern, self-contained waterfront site — a contained environment rather than an open city quarter — with London accessible for excursions. Accommodation. Students stay in single en-suite rooms within the secure campus residence, Longbridge House. Single en-suite rooms on a self-contained campus are a comfortable and contained combination, which matters more for the younger end of this centre's range than at its adult-focused equivalents. Families should still confirm what supervision applies outside teaching hours. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 11 to 18. That is a wide span — primary-school age through to adulthood — so families should ask specifically how an 11 or 12-year-old is grouped and supervised relative to 17 and 18-year-olds. One session is currently listed, beginning in mid-June, which is early; the full calendar should be confirmed. Location and travel. The Royal Docks are in east London, served by the DLR and close to London City Airport, with the rest of the city reachable across the network. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit families with a younger child who want a contained, secure waterfront campus rather than an open city site, and who value single en-suite rooms. The proximity to London City Airport is a practical advantage. Given the wide age range, families of younger students should take the grouping and supervision question seriously before booking, and compare Embassy's narrower-band centres such as London South Bank at 13 to 17.
