About

About the Course

The language programme focuses on communicative skills and is taught by trained, friendly teachers. It includes 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week, held in the mornings or afternoons. On the first day, students take a placement test (grammar and writing) to ensure they are placed in an appropriate class with approximately 17 students. Lessons are delivered in well-equipped classrooms, and the curriculum emphasizes practical communication. All students receive course materials and an end-of-course certificate upon completion.

What’s Included

The base price includes: English lessons, full-board accommodation in single en-suite or standard rooms on campus, weekly cleaning and bed linen, a full programme of on-site activities and sports, regular half-day and full-day excursions (e.g., London, Oxford, Brighton, Cambridge, Windsor), an end-of-course certificate and arrival/departure transfers on the official arrival day (from specified airports). Optional extras include specific paid excursions (e.g., Thorpe Park, Hampton Court Palace, Madame Tussauds, London Eye, Thames River Cruise) and guard.me insurance if needed. A refundable damage deposit (£30-40) is required in cash upon arrival.

Accommodation

Students live in a closed and secure university campus. Accommodation is in university residence halls, offering a mix of single en-suite and standard rooms. Each room is equipped with a desk, chair, wardrobe, and Wi-Fi. The campus features 24-hour security, CCTV, and a night supervisor for safety. Facilities include shared common rooms, outdoor seating areas, a laundrette (self-service, paid), an on-site shop (card only), and vending machines. Bed linens are provided and changed weekly, but towels are not.

Meal Plan

Full board accommodation is provided. All meals are served in the campus dining hall ('The Hub') during set times (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Meals include a variety of hot and cold options, with vegetarian choices available. On weekends, a packed lunch is provided. The centre can cater to most dietary requirements (e.g., allergies) if informed accurately at least two weeks in advance.

Activities & Excursions

The programme offers a diverse and balanced mix of activities. These include daily on-site sports (football, basketball, volleyball, etc.), creative workshops and games (treasure hunts, drama, quizzes, crafts), and evening social events (discos, karaoke, film nights, themed parties). A core component is the excursion programme, featuring cultural and historical trips to major cities (London, Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton) and local attractions (Windsor Castle, Henley-upon-Thames). On-site facilities are extensive: modern, spacious classrooms, large outdoor sports fields, tennis courts, indoor sports hall, basketball courts, multiple student social spaces, a library with a Starbucks, an on-campus supermarket, and free Wi-Fi throughout. More about this camp

This Embassy Summer centre operates on the campus of Royal Holloway, University of London, near Egham in Surrey, west of London. It accepts students aged 10 to 18. Programme and activities. The programme combines English language teaching with cultural immersion. The campus itself is one of the more striking university sites in the country, and its position outside London means the setting is green and quiet while the capital remains accessible for excursions. Accommodation and security. Students live on a closed and secure campus, in university residence halls offering a mix of single en-suite and standard rooms. The enclosed nature of the site is the point here: for a family sending a 10 or 11-year-old abroad, a campus students do not leave unaccompanied is a materially different proposition from a city-centre programme. Families should still ask what supervision applies outside teaching hours and how the youngest students are looked after, since a university campus is designed around adults. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 10 to 18 — the widest span of any Embassy centre in this catalogue, covering primary school through to adulthood. That breadth deserves a direct question to the provider about how groups are separated for teaching, accommodation and evening activities, because a 10-year-old and an 18-year-old have nothing in common. One session is currently listed, beginning in late June; the full calendar should be confirmed. Location and travel. Royal Holloway is at Egham in Surrey. Heathrow is very close, which makes arrival unusually simple, and central London is around forty minutes by train. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit families with a younger child who need both a short airport transfer and an enclosed campus — a combination few programmes offer. It may suit less well an older teenager wanting city life, for whom Embassy's Queen Mary or London South Bank centres are closer to the action. Note that two sports programmes also run at Royal Holloway — cricket and football — so families interested in the venue have alternatives with a different focus.
