About

About the Course

The academic program focuses on developing practical communication skills through a communicative, student-centered approach. Students receive 15 hours (20 x 45-minute lessons) of English per week, taught by trained teachers in classes averaging 17 students of all levels. The curriculum emphasizes real conversation and confidence-building, with lessons starting with engaging speaking activities on relevant topics. Placement is determined by an online test or an on-arrival test, and all students receive an end-of-course certificate.

What’s Included

The base package includes 15 hours of English lessons per week, full-board accommodation in university residence, a full program of on-site activities and excursions (mix of half-day and full-day trips), weekly bed linen change, arrival/departure transfers on the official arrival day (from specified airports) and an end-of-course certificate. Optional extras include specific premium excursions (e.g., Thorpe Park, London Eye) and personal airport transfers. A mandatory, refundable damage deposit is required on arrival. Travel and medical insurance is not included but can be purchased through Embassy Summer's partner.

Accommodation

Students live in full-board university residence halls on the Headington campus. Rooms are single, available as en-suite or standard (with shared bathroom facilities, 1-3 students per bathroom). Each room is equipped with a desk, chair, wardrobe, and bed linen (towels are not provided). The residence features 24/7 security, CCTV, an on-site security team, and a dedicated Embassy Summer night supervisor. Rooms are cleaned weekly, and self-service laundry facilities are available on-site. All students receive a key for their room and building.

Meal Plan

The program offers full-board accommodation. All meals are provided at The Terrace restaurant on campus during set times (breakfast, lunch, dinner), with a packed lunch on excursion days. Meals typically include a variety of hot and cold options, with a vegetarian choice available at lunch and dinner. The catering team can accommodate most dietary requirements if informed accurately at least two weeks in advance.

Activities & Excursions

The program balances English learning with a diverse and engaging social schedule designed to develop life skills and explore British culture. It includes a mix of on-site activities (e.g., sports tournaments, trivia nights, discos, creative workshops like \"Trashion Show\") and included excursions to iconic destinations like London, Windsor Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, and the picturesque Cotswolds. The activities aim to encourage socializing, continuous English practice, and fun in a less formal setting than the classroom.

Facilities

On campus, students have access to well-equipped, spacious classrooms, the university dining hall (The Terrace), communal lounges, a shop, cafes, vending machines, and self-service laundry. Sports facilities include the Brookes Sports Centre with a large indoor sports hall (used weekly) and nearby green areas for outdoor sports. The campus has free Wi-Fi, ATM access, and 24/7 security. More about this camp

This Embassy Summer centre is based on the Headington campus of Oxford Brookes University, in Oxford. It accepts students aged 12 to 18. Programme and activities. The course listed is a General Language Course. Oxford needs little introduction as a destination, and the provider describes a campus mixing old and new. Note that Oxford Brookes is a separate institution from the University of Oxford — families should be clear about which they are booking, as the two are often confused and the historic colleges belong to the latter. Accommodation. Students live in full-board university residence halls on the Headington campus. Rooms are single, available either as en-suite or as standard with shared bathrooms. That choice affects price, so families should establish which grade they are booking rather than assume en-suite. Living and studying on one campus removes any daily commute. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 12 to 18. As with most Embassy centres, the range extends past school-leaving age; families should ask how age groups are separated. One session is currently listed, beginning in late June, and the full calendar should be confirmed with the provider. Location and travel. Headington is on the eastern side of Oxford, a short bus ride from the city centre. Oxford is around an hour from London and Heathrow by coach. Transfer arrangements are not published. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit families who want Oxford as the destination with modern university accommodation and full board, and students who would prefer a single room. It is the more contemporary of the Oxford options in this catalogue — St Giles runs a centre at Oxford International College with a gated residence, and that may suit a younger or less independent student better. Families should confirm the room grade and the full set of dates before booking travel.
