More about this camp

Embassy Summer Cambridge is based at Abbey College in Cambridge, a modern campus a short walk from the historic city centre. It accepts students aged 12 to 18. Programme and activities. The course listed is a General Language Course. Cambridge provides the context: a compact university city where colleges, museums and the river are all reachable on foot, so the cultural programme does not depend on long journeys. Accommodation. Students stay in secure residential accommodation on campus, adjacent to Abbey College, which keeps teaching and living on effectively the same site. Families should confirm room configurations at booking, as these are not detailed in the information published here. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 12 to 18. The upper limit reaches past school-leaving age, so a 12 or 13-year-old could in principle be in the same centre as an 18-year-old — worth asking how groups are separated for teaching, accommodation and evening activities. One session is currently listed, beginning in late June; families should confirm whether further dates are available. Location and travel. Cambridge is around an hour north of London by train. Stansted is the nearest airport, with Heathrow around two hours away. Transfer arrangements are not published and should be confirmed with the provider. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit teenagers who want a well-known university city with a modern rather than historic campus base, and families who value having accommodation adjacent to the teaching site. Families with a younger child, or those who would prefer a narrower age band, should compare the St Giles centre at St Mary's School in the same city, which takes students from 8 in a traditional boarding-school setting — a materially different atmosphere in the same location.
