About

About the Course

The centre runs a general English programme for young learners with 15 hours of lessons a week, taught in long morning or afternoon blocks and adding up to 30 hours across the two-week programme. Students take a placement test on arrival so they are grouped with others at a similar level, and the centre accepts abilities from elementary through to advanced. Lessons are taught in small groups with a maximum ratio of fifteen students to one teacher, and every student receives a certificate at the end of the course.

What’s Included

Every package includes full-board accommodation, English tuition, the placement test, morning or afternoon social activities, evening activities and a completion certificate. On top of that the centre offers a tiered excursion package. The Platinum tier adds full-day trips to London with the London Eye, to Canterbury including the cathedral, to Brighton including the pier and i360, and to Hastings including the Smugglers Caves, together with half-day visits around Eastbourne, Cuckmere and Beachy Head, and Lewes Castle and Barbican House Museum. Platinum is offered either with residence accommodation in the centre or with homestay accommodation.

Accommodation

Young learners stay on the top floor of the centre's own building, in rooms that sleep four to twelve students with shared bathroom facilities; twin, triple and dormitory-style rooms are used. Accommodation is arranged in advance and students remain in the centre for the whole programme, with rooms cleaned once a week. A homestay option with a local host family is available as an alternative to the residence.

Meal Plan

Meals are served on campus and included on a full-board basis. At each meal students choose from two main dishes and are served dessert, fruit and a drink. The kitchen caters for vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and lactose-free diets.

Activities & Excursions

Afternoons and evenings follow a rolling social programme that includes a welcome evening, a British culture night and quiz, a Trashion show, sports, a murder mystery, disco or karaoke, movie nights, a casino night, a photo challenge, a game show evening, a scavenger hunt, an international talent show and a farewell party. Daytime activities and half-day visits take students into Eastbourne town centre, the Towner Art Gallery and pier, mini golf and a cream tea, as well as Cuckmere and Beachy Head and Lewes Castle, with full-day excursions further afield.

Facilities

The campus is an 18th-century mansion with 36 classrooms and Wi-Fi, set in ten acres of private grounds a short walk from the beach and the town centre. Sports and leisure facilities include an indoor games room, a common room, a tennis and basketball court, volleyball and football nets, and a large garden area for outdoor games. Laundry facilities are available on campus for a fee.

Camp Experience

Eastbourne combines a seaside setting with straightforward rail access to London and the wider south coast, and the centre is designed for students aged eight to seventeen who want to improve their English while exploring the area. Twin operates a safeguarding framework that includes a round-the-clock support service, supervised excursions for younger students, individual student mentors, weekly welfare tutorials and police checks on all staff. Students come from many countries, so English is the shared language in and out of the classroom.
